I have actually been gathering pictures from my friends wedding to cut together a piece using the same bible verses.

It is about time that we start throwing the bible back at the hypocrites!

*sniffle* That was so sweet. A great ad.

Wow. Powerful stuff. I'm re-posting on my blog and facebook and hope everyone else does too! My other favorite passage is Romans 8:38-39
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither things present nor things to come, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God.

I think Paul trumps himself here in some of his less accepting thoughts; he was a person in a journey of faith, and when he transcends his own prejudices to see the higher love for neighbor in God, he's on to something greater and steadfast, especially when he can acknowledge what sometimes separates are his own words that take a fearful life of their own.

The last couple was hot. Oh and of course nice verses. Still I know plenty of people (unfortunately) who would say that homosexual love is polluted love and thus not true.

It goes to show that some people will stick to their hate and bigotry no matter what nice and touching messages you show to them.

Things like this only preach to the choir.

That brought tears to my eyes.

paul @8, bullshit. if this election has taught us anything it's that there is a large and intellectually pliable mass of "undecidedes" who can be and are swayed by just this sort of thing. the far right is just as much a minority as the far left, they just have religion and it's free ride keeping them afloat. knock that crutch away and what do the evangelicals have? use the bible, take the ground they've corrupted.

How come all the guys look gay, even the ones that apparently aren't, but none of the women look lesbian, even the ones that apparently are? The women all look either odd and freakish or else very mainstream straight, but I could not identify as a lesbian with a single one of them.

Agree with @11. I have one problem with this particular ad though - there is almost no racial diversity in the people featured. When trying to sway the "undecided masses," it shouldn't be forgotten that many of the people from those masses are not white. It's important to show that this issue truly IS about everybody. Still loved the piece. My favorite passage from the bible

@9 & @10 - totally agree!
Damnit, now I need a Kleenex.

This realy gets to the heart of the matter, doesn't it?

utter gibberish

not alone words, but, works (in the bible)

it is not humanly possible to understand love before age 50

sounds a lot like selling hallmark cards

most of these people nave never donated to a food bank

white bread world and cupcake thinking

It's an effective ad, but the mis-application of that passage of 1st Corinthians to weddings raises my hackles every time.

The greek word is "agape", and it refers to universal love, not romantic love. That's why in many bibles it is translated as "charity".

Genius. Using the Bible like this. Genius.

And sweet, and I could watch those last two boys kiss all day. Yum.

@21
and what is more likely to keep a marriage going then charity. in it's best sense, forgiveness, good will toward your partner.
romantic love is important, but any marriage that does not include the other kind is going to be pretty dam fractious.
just saying...

Cute, but none of that matters. God himself could show up on the fundy's doorsteps and tell them to their faces to stop discriminating against gays and they STILL wouldn't stop.
They can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with.

To my eyes--and also because I know the people involved--there is a Japanese woman, an Arab man, a Latino, a Latina, a Persian man and a Filipino man in this video. Why is it that only black equals 'people of color'?
The film-makers pulled the people they could from their community--Orange County, California, which is fairly whitebread--and took all comers. They did what they could with what they had...If black activists haven't--or didn't--step up to the plate, why blame the people that did?

Thanks to all who understood and wrote loving messages...
@15: A case in point...very nice.
@16: Try to remember, Darling, that revenge for perceived slights is what got us into our current mess...(the greatest of these is love)(also...see post #25...it's true).
@19: And just how, might I ask, do you happen to "know" all these things about these loving people? Hmmmmm?
@20: Me too, Lovey...me too.
@25: THANK you. I happen to know these people, and I can tell you that you are absolutely correct. Well said....
