Children’s Hospital Vs. Laurelhurst

There’s sure to be a hoopla at tonight’s meeting between neighbors and Children’s Hospital execs at Laurelhurst Elementary - located at 4530 46th Ave. N.E. -, which goes from 6-8pm.

Children’s Hospital, located on Sand Point Way, wants to double the size of their 880,000 square foot facility. Super-affluent Laurelhurst neighbors are concerned about the size and scope of the expansion. Watch for Children’s Hospital to finally play hardball with the neighbors.

Ah, a NIMBY outrage even extends to shunning cancer treatment research for toddlers. Nice.

My favorite was still when those same Laurelhurst NIMBYs were objecting to all the helicopters landing at Children's. Helicopters, presumably, bearing patients with such grievous injuries that any other form of transportation couldn't be relied upon to get them to the hospital before they died.

Nice.

@2 They still object. Every time someone is flown to Childrens', they send out a letter to the neighbors to let them know just what kind of medical emergency it was. I have no doubt that some of these fuckers have occasionally thought, "I can't believe they interrupted my wine tasting for a lousy kidney failure."

Ironicaly enough, it's located where it is because so many society ladies liked to volunteer there.

my biggest problem with children's is that clueless people turning into their entry drive interfere with my speeding on Sand Point Way.
