Arts Today in Stranger Suggests

onCasino Royale (ESCAPISM) I closed my eyes during one of the two torture scenes in this film and therefore cannot review the entire work for its artistic merit. But! It’s a movie so packed with plot twists, exotic locales, runaway gas trucks, and machete fights in casino stairwells that by the time everyone’s dead except Bond, I could only vaguely recall what got them all in trouble anyway. Were there really Liberian freedom fighters in this film? (See Movie Times for more info.) SARAH MIRK

Thank you, Dan. Viva Casino Royale!
You missed the CBT scene? It was easily the most shocking thing I've seen in popular media in a long, long time.
BTW - Shout out to Mistress Matisse whose helpful articles me the background information to recognize CBT when I saw it. Thanks!
I have to say, all torture aside, this was the best Bond movie I have ever seen and Daniel Craig is fucking HOT.
The old timey Bond villain was great too. Bad hair, cries blood, the works.
Nope, Dew, I couldn't handle the machete-to-arm thing. Gah! Scary. Balls hit with a big rope? Whatevs.
I've seen it 3 times already. Daniel Craig makes my pants tight.
Awesome movie -- best Bond ever, and best action flick I've seen in quite awhile. And speaking of tight pants, check this out: http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertainment/story.asp?j=203147264&p=zx3y4797x
I loved Casino Royale. Best Bond flick in at least 2 decades. Craig gives Sean Connery a run for his money as best Bond, and makes the rest of the Bonds look like campy chumps.
Okay, I also couldn't watch the matchete-arm scene. I've had a thing about living dismemberment since I did forensics .

Cover your eyes if you wish (I did the first time I saw it), but no one gets their arm cut off, so take a deep breath.
Loved it. I thought the card game scenes were going to bore me, because I don't know poker all that well, but they were actually really suspenseful. (I was also amused by how, at the end of the game, he casually tossed the dealer a $5 million tip.)
