Today in Stranger Suggests

posted by on December 1 at 10:11 AM

‘We Never Like Talking About the End’ (DANCE) Since her time as one half of Seattle’s freakishly awesome dance-theater outfit 33 Fainting Spells, Dayna Hanson has been creating brilliantly loopy concatenations of dance (modern), film (à la Cassavetes), and assorted obsessions (near-death experiences, biodiesel, Gena Rowlands). This weekend’s world premiere also includes music by Maggie Brown (the Garfield student who played Kate-at-13 in Lynn Shelton’s We Go Way Back) and an appearance by Hanson’s dad, Vern. (On the Boards, 100 W Roy St, 217-9888. 8 pm, $18.) ANNIE WAGNER

Dayna's work is fantastic. Her solo show at NWFF was personal and affecting with out feeling self-indulgent. I won't be able to make it to this one but I strongly suggest that folks go out of their way to check it out. Who knows if this new piece will succeed or fail but either way she is any artist worth watching. Props to OTB for supporting another great local artist!
