What it is. And Isn’t.

Posted by on June 15 at 11:27 AM

He failed in his bid to be a lead lobbyist for big business as governor, so now he’s started a firm to lobby as….well, a lobbyist.

Dino Rossi announced this week that he’s starting Forward Washington Foundation to promote his 2008 run lobby in Olympia. His former campaign spokesperson, Mary Lane, will be the executive director of the lobbying firm.

Although, go to Forward Washington Foundation’s website ….look at the photo Rossi’s running of the capitol building… is that even Olympia???

Here’s Olympia: building.jpg

And here’s the picture Rossi is running: 538315835_fw_sidebar.jpg

I guess Rossi just downloaded the how-to lobbyist kit from his puppet masters in D.C, and this was the picture they provided.

No way that's Oly. Compare to this link:

It could be the other "Washington"... you know Josh the one where Dino really gets his money from...

That is indeed the United States Capitol Building. Bizarre.

I think we have a winner...

Check out the columnar structure and windows.

The Rossi site is designed and hosted by Neo-Nonprofits which is home-officed in Ohio (WTF!?!?! now why would Rossi/Lane go with a web design company that only has presence and not an actual incorporation is Washington is besides me. are they really trying to cheat, er.. maximize funding, by screwing Washington State out of the tax money it could collect from fees paid to an instate company? I am sure there are one or two locally owned web design firms that would kill to have the Rossi website on its server. So much for supporting Washington State , the fuckers). The design looks like a standard template, and that photo speaks to the level of {insert your photo here} type of creativity.

Which begs the question: how long until that photo is replaced by the capitol building that is supposed to be there.

ooo... now I know why Rossi didn't go for the red/white/blue design... it was already taken...

I'm pretty bummed out. I was going to leave them a comment, but that feature doesn't seem to be working. I would have liked to see those comments after your link to the site.

Are you sure that's not the Soviet Politburo?

...or the Reichstag?

I love how they get snitty that it's accurately described in the news as a lobbying group for business rather than a non-profit organization devoted to puppies, ice cream and balloons.

Typical Bush League Republican double talk.

The intent of "non-profit" status is hold an organization to returning profits back to the program,(instead of to an owner or investment group). The programs are usually social in nature. They have a completely different reporting system for taxes and activities then do lobbying groups. It is a plumb status, that is why more and more politcal groups are exploiting whatever loopholes in the laws the lawyers can find (and make).

What is bullshit is how Rossi and Lane will be paid (no one works for free. if they did, then they would exploit that "volunteer" status in the media). One thing about "non-profit" status is that the Board of Directors get to set the executive staffs salaries (which in theory prevents an executive from paying oneself whatever they fucking think they deserve). But, in this case according to their very website, the Board is one person, Rossi is the president, and Lane is the executive director. This is the extent of the staff. One dude just passing out the money, up to the extent the laws will allow. So what is their "non-profit" program? talking to elected officals seems to be there "social program". A program which I do not want, but, because they are cheating on their taxes, does directly affect me as a tax payer. I feel that there are a lot more programs directly deserving of this status, and that these fucks are cheating the system by gaming it.

Looks like they've changed the picture...

Amazing what influence the Slog has on the world...

Sure, it's over a somewhat trivial matter--but imagine if we used our super powers to fight crime?

I don't understand. Are you saying that Republicans aren't criminals?

Maybe next they can fix the grammatical error on the main page. There's a dash that shouldn't be there. But then, since the whole thing is just a money-laundering machine for the party, I guess it doesn't matter.
