onWorkers just cleared that very, very clogged drain at Pike and Broadway. Now you don’t have to jump over a small lake to cross the street or get to the QFC. Oh happy day.
“Why are you takin’ a picture of that,” one of the men asked me, as he reached for a handful of the sludge he just pulled from the backed-up drain.
“I’m excited the drain is clear! I’m going to put it on the internet! People will be stoked!”
“Hahaha… whatever.”

In my old neighborhood in Ann Arbor I used to go out periodically with one of my gardening tools to clear the drain when it got clogged. It gave me great satisfaction to watch the water finally drain. The end.
Hey Balt-O-Matt, I have something to ask you about. Either check the latest topic in the Slog Facebook group, or send me a myspace message.
Do people need to ask why Elliot Bay is the dead zone it is? That sludge eventually finds its way into the Bay and the aquatic food chain. Alas poor Orcas we knew them well...
I'm with the maintainence worker on this one. That's pretty weird, Megan. It must be some Web 2.0 generational thing.
I kind of liked watching all the corks floating around. Little victory boats for the rats.
Why is Megan Seling so frickin' adorable?! I am trying hard not to be smitten, and it is not working.
Now if they could unclog the drain at the cross on Broadway @ Republican or Harrison - can never remember which - across from Starbucks, kitty corner from the Pilgrim Church - it's a veritable Veronica.

Adopt a drain! There are far more than the city can clear given the leaves and start of the rain.
Those bags of garbage are still at Broadway and Pike.
I'm really glad to hear about this. I am coming down from Vancouver this weekend and was really worried about it.
