This ad really pisses me off. It's not that I don't like the message -- I do. It's that these people put a lot of work into making a great ad that I think does a great job to make straight people comfortable voting against eight, then put a giant "HOMO" at the end of it.

Translation: this ad paid for by GAYS! It's not about fairness after all, it's about fairness to GAYS!

I'm sure it felt nice to name the group "HOMOtracker" but the name sure doesn't do any good in actually beating the amendment.

Counting on non-gay, non-super liberal people to stand up for gays is a lost cause. This ad should be paid for by "People Who Don't Really Like Gay Marriage But Will Vote Against 8 Anyway." The goal of this campaign isn't to make people think that it's ok to be a homo, it's to beat the amendment. The end.

#4 of course it's about fairness to Gay-Americans, they're the ones being denied equality. Duh. You're other point is well made however that asking for non-Gay citizens to vote NO is now complicated by (shocking) using the HOMO word. Americans are terribly adverse to the truth.

#6 If most voters didn't see a difference between "fairness" and "fairness to gay people" we wouldn't have lost so many times.

While I agree with the sentiment and the portrayal of the constitution, I think the parody of the the Mac ad is lame and tired. I wish they'd found a different way to frame it.

This'll really change things. Most homophobic, ignorant people are constantly on the net and are bound to see this ad. It's a good thing they're not putting it on TV. Then no one would watch it.

Well - if I lived in California, I'd vote against Prop 8. (Would even without this ad...)

Of course, I voted against limiting gays in VA, too - and you know how much good that did anybody.

Was really hoping Californians were more open-minded than Virginians.

Wonder if anyone's mind could be changed by spreading the word that Israel recognizes gay marriages.

They don't actually sanction the joining, but if people live together long enough, they're considered as 'common-law' married. And get the same benefits as sanctioned married people.

Better than what we have (don't have) anyway.

@4 I'm with you. If you want to name your group "HOMOtracker" and all you do is preach to the choir, great. But you can't take that name out into the mainstream and not scare off the very people you're trying to attract.

I totally believe that the appearance of their name negates all the good of the rest of the ad. At the very least, it leaves the target audience wondering what the hell that "HOMOtracker" thing was about, instead of leaving them thinking about everything they saw before it. That's Bad Ad 101.

They love their celebrities there. I would prefer a more simple plea to keep California a "free state".
