“There’s no chemistry—I couldn’t see chemistry between John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

posted by on October 22 at 19:28 PM

They’re not comfortable with each other yet—McCain and Palin. So says an NBC analyst about the network’s joint McCain/Palin interview tonight. No chemistry yet? Didn’t McCain once call Palin his “soul mate”? Indeed he did. NBC’s analyst adds that they know they’re losing, and speculates that McCain may be blaming Palin for that fact, and Palin may be blaming McCain. The wheels are coming off…

This clip is… delicious. Fucking delicious. Why not enjoy it again.

Wow, that's fantastic. I saw part of the interview, and the ineptitude on part of both McCain and Palin was staggering. They're both really bad at this.

Here's the thing, though: that stupid AP poll is starting to get some play. Every news website highlights it. Here in Cincinnati -- and in many other places, I imagine -- the local newscasters are saying "polls show the race tightening." I'm afraid that might start to build some momentum for these two losers, particularly among the "undecideds." Am I just another paranoid, glass-half-empty Democrat?

I understand that expectations don't play a part in the general nearly as much as they do in a primary, but I do worry about the perception that McCain has already lost gaining too much traction. I fear the sympathy vote.

I mean look at South Dakota. By all rights that should have belonged to Obama. It was one of two states at the end and as such was massively staffed, not to mention the fact that it's Daschle's home turf and he has played an integral role in Obama's campaign. At the time of SD's primary Obama had the nomination locked up.

I'm convinced that Hilary won because of a swell in sympathy votes.

A pair that deserves each other ...McCain for selling his soul to the devil, and Palin for, well, for being Palin.

...and Palin for writing the check, blackhook.

The only thing I don't like about the McCain/Palin ticket sinking like a stone is that MSNBC and Comedy Central don't broadcast in HD.

Elitist, I know...

@4 - Do you mean filling in the dollars and cents on a blank check, at Neiman Marcus?
What she spent in two months on clothes, hair, and makeup, is equal to my family's gross salary earned over TWO YEARS.

Back to the interview - On Rachel Maddow, Brian Williams hinted at what we will see in the upcoming segments to be aired on NBC News - apparently Palin misunderstood a question and supplied a correction afterward. Goodies will trickle out like the Couric interview segments...

NBC is a failed network run by poor businessmen.

They bet the farm on being a "Video Air America" and will probably follow them into bankruptcy.

#8: not.

I just prefer Fox shows -- like "Fringe".

My new favorite.

Fringe is X-Files for dimwitted douchebags. Not surprising #9.

If you look closely at Palin, you can see she's questioning he belief in God. Painful to watch, really.

The irony is that Palin is my only reason for believing in God. But her fake asshole god and my One True God are far different.

Can anyone pass me the URL, embedded video doesn't come through in the middle east where youtube is banned.

#10:

No Fringe is like if they took all the good science and nerd stuff from "Lost" and melded it with CSI.

That's why it's a great show.

This, coupled with reading the part of the New York Times Sunday magazine article about McCain's selection of Palin, make me downright gleeful.

You know, when the XFL failed, I thought, huh, I guess it is actually possible to underestimate the intelligence of the average American. And, now, I'm feeling much the same way. McCain's Palin gambit utterly, completely failed. And I couldn't be happier about it...

#13 - Using 2 fucktard television shows to describe another? Turn off the fucking tube and pick up a book. Shit - is that elitist?

you picked her, mccain. blame yourself.

Of course he blames Palin. She's the car wreck that horribly scarred and disfigured his once beautiful campaign, and now he'll be forced to abandon it. Except, when your 72, there isn't another campaign waiting for you.

Forget whether or not they looked comfortable. Did anyone pay attention to what she was saying in that clip? That it's dangerous to proclaim that you're going to sit down and talk about the issues with someone with whom you have a disagreement? Are they serious?

Please, please, please don't let these people win. If she becomes the President, God help us all...

@2,

Or it could have been due to Republicans voting for Hillary to try to skew the results and fracture the Democratic Party.

So Chuck Todd's analysis consists of reading their body language? What a weak, shameless hack. Got anything else, you know, of substance?

I've been reading "The Boat" by Nam Le.

But it's up and down, love hate. Beautifully written, sometimes clunkers in the plot.

Chuck Todd is in outer space. Go to MSNBC and watch the interview. McCain and Palin are relaxed - as much as anyone could be in that setting with hard hitting questions.

@25 - What the hell does YHAT mean? "Oh, the questions were tough, give 'em some slack?" Who do you want as president and vice president - two fucking Saturday morning cartoon characters?

Oh - hang on...
