Re: Joe Biden Coming to Tacoma

posted by on October 17 at 12:10 PM

Joshua Field, Washington Communications Director for Obama for America, responds—sort of—to my question from earlier today about whether Joe Biden’s event in Tacoma this Sunday is really intended to help out Gov. Christine Gregoire:

Hey Eli –

We are less than three weeks away from election day when every personal connection the campaign can make with voters matters. Washington State has always been a vital part of Senator Obama’s roadmap to the White House and Senator Biden’s visit is an excellent opportunity to reach out to Washingtonians and tell them directly how an Obama/Biden administration will turn the page on the last eight years of failed policies. This event will give undecided voters in Washington an opportunity to hear directly from the campaign about the issues that mean the most to them and pump some energy into our grassroots supporters as we approach November 4th.

Gotta admire that message discipline—the Obama campaign is famous for it, and it obviously extends all the way down the chain to the local spokesman here in Washington.

Dammit, that's frustrating to read.

Is "message discipline" what we're calling evasion now?

@2 - no, it's what we call slamming it to the Socialist Reds in the Grand Theft Auto Party.

"We are less than three weeks away from election day when every personal connection the campaign can make with voters matters."

Interesting ... is this a discreet way of saying that the Obama campaign considers Washington State to be in play after all? I'd love to see some of their polling internals.
