Media 100,000

Just in case the local Seattle news media did not know, there are about 100,000 people attending the Seattle HempFest this weekend…I have seen nothing on any of your newscasts about this…Once again, the local media fails to reflect the news that’s going on…
This is in addition to the complete lack of coverage of Gay Pride in June…
There seems to be a pattern of censorship with what stories get airtime…It’s not a matter of laziness, since this news story is taking place right next to your news stations….I think you all need to hire new news directors….I’m not a news director, but I can spot stories that get ratings and these fluff pieces your using as filler all the time are getting old…

No surprise about KOMO—unless you don’t know about their pattern of marijuana-related censorship. Let’s just take a look, yeah? What’s up on KOMO’s homepage right now? (A screen grab of as much of the page as possible.)
And King 5 News’s?
And Q13’s?
Huh.
FURTHER KOMO-, KING 5-, AND Q13-RELATED READING, FROM THE ARCHIVES: Adrian Ryan on Seattle’s most fuckable newscasters. To wit:
Two out of three suit-and-tie types consider Kerri Kazarba the local newscaster they’d most likely let drive their kids to soccer practice. Three out of three want to sit on her face.

To be fair, if you scroll down to item 13 (ooh spooky) on q13's page, you get this: http://q13.trb.com/news/kcpq-081508-hempfest,0,6110636.story
Not exactly an in-depth spread, but a mention nonetheless.
mr. vicari needs to look up "censorship" before throwing the accusation around so casually.
That Federal Way gangbanger looks kind of hot...
The PI (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/) has a front page story, blog, and 43 pic gallery.
Stoners get together in a park, listen to tunes, chill out and go home.
What, exactly, is newsworthy about that?
(Granted, Dan writes pointed Slog posts about how the fact that these stoners have been able to gather together, enjoy their herb and not gone apey...not moved directly to injecting heroin into their eyeballs...etc. SHOULD be seen as newsworthy based on the often hysterical news reports about the eeeeevils of pot. I'm not disputing that take on things...I'm just saying that makes Hempfest news only in context, not in and of itself.)
That's what I don't understand about all you "democrats" around here... If you were dems or liberals or "progressive" you would have no problem covering a bunch of people celebrating "hemp". It's all ANTI Republican, until it happens in your own back yard, eh?
Cool. So it's actually more dangerous to pick your kid up from a soccer game, or have a picnic by the river, than it is to have a picnic with 100,000 drug crazed stoners.
Who knew.
You know what I hate about "quotations" and their "usage" is that "no one" knows how to "use them".
That post was worthless without a picture of kerri kazarba, you heartless baztards. She was before my time and image search came up empty.
@6 please "clarify"
You left Lisa Van Cise off of your "exhaustive" list of fuckable newscasters, you clueless tool. God DAMN I would hit that shit like a piston-powered air hammer. Twice.
A search for "hempfest" and "hemp fest" on the local teevee web sites show the following:
Komo last reported on it in 2001.
Kiro7 "0 results found"
King5 and NWCN "No pages were found containing "hempfest"
Q13 gave it a two-second mention as part of an alarmist report on Methfest, and ran a brief announcement on the 15th.
I don't even smoke pot, but yeah, this is bullshit. There seems to be a tv news blackout on this.
Also, I realize that anchor list is from 2005, but it seriously needs to be amended to include Chris Warren. He is the hottest thing on the air.
Funniest line from any Seattle news source this year....
"A Hempfest leader said the protesters show up each year and added that a group of transsexuals were en route to frighten off the preachers, something that also takes place each year."
Now THAT is comedy.
Too many other interesting things going on. Pot smoking is only interesting to the ones who still do it. I still play pocket-pool: c'mon where's the coverage? Hmmm? I sense a blackout.
It got very good print coverage in Times/PI
