Nerd I Know That It’s Gauche to Do This…

on…but I have to link to this Onion piece because I think it’s the funniest thing I’ve read on The Onion in a really long time:
EARTH—Former vice president Al Gore—who for the past three decades has unsuccessfully attempted to warn humanity of the coming destruction of our planet, only to be mocked and derided by the very people he has tried to save—launched his infant son into space Monday in the faint hope that his only child would reach the safety of another world.
It goes on from there, and the quote about how he’s known as Gore-Al in his home language is a little nerdgasm in itself.

sheepishly admit there was some LOLing when I read this...and I NEVER LOL!
I like the illustration atop the Onion article; it looks as if Gore is sacrificing an infant to the hungry jaws of a giant Aibo.
Which interestingly seems to have dozens of tiny gas flames as teeth....
Funny, but the funniest thing you've read in the Onion in quite some time? Oh, thats right, you're a wrier for the Stranger, you have shit taste.
No mention of distant relative banished from the shores of his adopted land, Gore Vid-Al?
And who do you "wrie" for Mr. Dickman, that has endowed you with such impeccable taste?
@3 whoa! wicked burn dude.....
Wow. Nice one.
muckfetro @5, the correct verb form is "wry," a verbification of the adjective.
I'll not defend Mr. Dickman's peurile jibes, but please don't mock the crucial role role of wriers in creating the trademark tone of alt weeklies.
I LOLed a little in my mouth.
I often find the Onion funny, but that piece was really not funny.
I liked it.
