…just won a Tony for directing South Pacific.
How about some background on who he is? Not everyone is hep to the local theater scene.
I'll tell you what wins a Tony...an enormous whozeewhatsit!!!
artistic director of intiman theatre in seattle since 2000.
Cher was in South Pacific? Wasn't that musical from the 40s or something?
he wasn't IN it. he directed it. and it's a revival of the musical.
#1: A little background. Bartlett Sher has won some national acclaim for his work at Intiman and as a result has helped to earn Seattle notice for its thriving theater scene. In particular, A Light in the Piazza went on to a successful New York run after opening here, earning several Tony awards for its Broadway run.
One of the reasons his South Pacific is earning accolades is his decision to cast Asian actors in Asian roles. Historically these roles have been played by Caucasians.
I first read this as Bart Star wins a tony. Now that would be news, a two time superbowl MVP winning a tony award.
What an idiotic thread...
You're on the Internet; if you don't know who someone is, fucking GOOGLE their name instead of coming off like a nitwit.
@1: Bart Sher is probably one of the most recognizable people in the Seattle theater scene. Do you want all posts about pit bulls to mention that they're a type of dog?
