As of today it’s legal for straight ladies in Texas to own dildos and vibrators—and they’ve got litigious gays to thank.
Court strikes down Texas ban on sex toysA federal appeals court has struck down a seldom-enforced Texas law making it a crime to promote or sell sex toys. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, ruling in a case originally filed in federal court in Austin, found that the ban in the Texas penal code on selling or promoting obscene devices violates the right to privacy under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
“Whatever one might think or believe about the use of these devices, government interference with their personal and private use violates the Constitution,” said the opinion in the case considered by a three-judge panel of the New Orleans-based court.
The opinion relied heavily on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2003 decision in Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, which struck down a Texas law prohibiting private consensual sex among members of the same sex. That case established a broad constitutional right to sexual privacy.
Lawrence and Garner v. Texas is just a gift that keeps on giving.

hey! this should get rid of the article dan posted a little while ago about sex toys in mississippi as well, since mississippi is also a part of the 5th district along with louisiana (and obviously texas), so the news channel won't be able to report on any more vibrator induced scandals. score one for the south...somehow
I know some people think this is funny but I don't. First off, the Supreme Court ruling striking down sodomy laws is the exact reason the religionistas are trying to perpetuate violence against gay people. They can't use the government to enforce their bullshit religion so they will use what they have always used: bullying and icitement to violence. You see it in their children too. That's what religion does. They simply can't bear real freedom because deep down they resent people who enjoy life while they are miserable. I'm just surprised they didn't try to outlaw cucumbers as well. What ignorant fucks!
