At least no one will be complaining that it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't a gun free zone.

I checked it out online to see if money was the target, but it was guns in bulk, stolen while the shop was closed.

Gun shops get hit more often when a spike in demand outstrips normal contraband gun supply. The crooks of the southland must be gearing up for a busy springtime as the recession deepens.

(Fun Fact: Fort Mill is where Muzak moved to when it left Seattle in 1999!)

from the article:

Stolen guns on the street are a concern, he added, but it's just a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of illegal guns on the streets today.

"They (guns) are almost like cash on the street," Holland said. "Very easily sold and everyone wants them. It's a good commodity to have. I believe they were going to sell them."

The real concern, Holland said, is the age of the suspects. Crime is increasing around the county, he said, and more young teenagers than ever are suspects.

so other than your typical slog troll where you post something on dan's anti list (pit bulls etc), did you have a point other than snark? Because its not like you respond to your own posts.

If in fact this heinous crime took place when the shop was closed, this is a

    burglary
, NOT a robbery.

I was taught this vocabulary lesson by no less than the Maui County police when I reported that I was robbed, when in fact I was burgled. I felt a whole lot better.

There is no such thing as safety. And buying a gun doesn't actually help - especially for women, and most especially for small or thin women.

No, I'm not joking. Go take some martial arts classes - or even Tai Chi, it will do you more good than a gun ever will.

(sorry, lost count after firing a few hundred thousand rounds as to how many weapons I've used)

" And buying a gun doesn't actually help - especially for women, and most especially for small or thin women."

What BS, while I totally agree that unarmed fighting is a very important part of self defense, just about anyone can usee a gun, provided they choose one that fits their hand and not some ridiculous hand canon. For some people a handgun is a good choice.

What does "safe" mean exactly?

riiiiight. handguns are incredibly likely to be taken away from smaller women.

convince yourself you're safe with a gun, but don't mind me trying to wake you up to the cold hard fact that it's highly likely to be used to kill you or your kids instead.

We now return you to your GOP-inspired fantasy life where attacking Iraq made you safer and the economy is wonderful.

If you outlaw pot only outlaws will have pot

Oops, sorry wrong thread. All this proves is that Criminals are bad. If they hadn't been out stealing guns, they might have been robbing you at knife point, (or burglarizing your house), yes there is the matter of what will happen with the guns now, but as I started with, outlawing something doesn't stop it. If criminals can't steal their guns, they just steal money to buy them from smugglers.

Well, sure you can argue that if guns are illegal then anyone with a gun is by definition a criminal and can be locked up with out having to determine what they intended to do with the gun, or wait for them to do something bad. While that does sound like a utopia (I mean seriously, I know someone who carries a gun that scares the crap out of me) but does the name Martin Niemöller ring any bells? (not for me , but I do remember Frist they came ...) should you happen to follow that link, note the section "Variation of second stanza" that would include the fags, be careful what you wish for.
