Arts Dominic Holden, Are You High?

onDominic Holden, you’re completely wrong when you say:
The best thing about the Olympic Sculpture Park is Wake—graceful and industrial. The worst thing about the Olympic Sculpture Park is the concrete warehouse right behind Wake—a “historical site.”
The concrete warehouse is terrific. It is perfect. It is the only thing within 30 blocks that speaks the same damn language as the sculpture.
And you are rooting for some glassy high-rise architecture as a backdrop for the sculpture?
Pot should be outlawed.

He needs to smoke MORE pot!
woah, i thought mudede was writing this, crazy
dominic doesn't smoke pot.
that's what he told me.
can't we just have ONE park block without a friggin hold-out leftover POS building marring it?
Jen is correct.
Rusted steel objects on a large scale backed by authentic concrete bunker wall is just perfect.
Industrial, modern, organic, staged in scale. Beton, the stuff the Romans used/invented and the material of this century. Concrete, how could we exist without it?
The steel is Corten, designed to rust - always wanted to do a house covered it in.
Dom's taste is immature. Needs tuning by nocturnal wanderings in the sculpture garden at night in his underwear on mushroom enhancers.
The warehouse is a great backdrop. The office building behind the warehouse is a travesty.
Completely agree. Always thought the warehouse was part of the sculpture park, no clue it served another purpose (although in retrospect this view seems naïve).
The office building behind the park (the big cylindrical one) does indeed look like ass.
Did the artist have say in where his sculpture was situated? Maybe he *wanted* it in front of a low, non-descript parking garage/warehouse.
Putting a flashy condo there screams--"ignore the art! Look at me!"
The fourteen story apartment building proposed is being developed by Martin Selig Real Estate. While the building is planned for rental apartments, they will be designed to high end condo specifications. Their target market is out-of-town business types. Apartments would start around $3000-$4000 a month.
In order to gain easement rights from SAM (to build up to the lot line), the tower design is required to be reviewed by Weiss/Manfredi of New York, the designers of the park.
