Steen Resignation Rumors True

posted by on November 28 at 15:47 PM

It is official: A. Birch Steen has resigned as The Stranger’s public editor. Keck conveys the news in Mr. Steen’s corner of tomorrow’s paper. I will miss the old curmudgeon; his copy was flawless and he never missed a deadline.

Steinbacher is getting lazy?

Hasn't he "resigned" before? He'll be back after he gets back from

Fat Camp
the Rush Limbaugh Center for Painkiller Addiction
Thailand

It's really cute to keep pretending that he was a real person.

He was the only thing keeping the Stranger afloat.

Now it's just going to be the 'mos and ho's...

He IS a real person in the hearts and minds of those who REALLY do believe in him...

don't be Grinchin' on my H. Birch Steen, Aislinn!

Next thing you know, you'll be sayin' that Savage isn't real.

He resigned in the paper two weeks ago! Only thing in the paper worth reading. I'll miss the old coot's reminiscences about JFK and, Christ, FDR, probably.

@5: No, I would never say that Savage isn't real. Because he is real. I've seen him, even, on TV, and in person at Hump. I don't go about making wild claims on individual's existences. This one is pretty well substantiated.

That's not really Savage--it's just some guy in a costume!

That guy at HUMP? Just another graduate of the Dan Savage Clown College. Noted alum Ecce Homo graduated earlier this year with top honors.

RIP A Critical Overview. Week after week, the best column in the whole damned paper. It's all downhill from here. Guess he was too old to make the jump to the blagosphere.

I'm still trying to figure out what became of T. Herman Zweibel.

Maybe he enlisted to go die for King George in Iraq?

Sadly, his cranky columns were getting closer and closer to being accurate. And I agree that often, especially in recent months, they were the most entertaining reading in the paper.

@12, T. Herman Zweibel was launched into outer space by his robot nemesis cleverly disguised as his long lost son several years ago. I think it's in the archive.

My heart is broken by this news.

"A Critical Overview" is second only to "Last Days." And, of course, my all-time favorite Stranger feature, Charlie Chong's short-lived column. RIP.

@3

It's not Dan. It's Bradley, writing with his off hand. Or typing one handed. Or masturbating to my hot pictures. Or whatever.

A. Birch Steen was a sexy, sexy Public Editor. Sexy, sexy, Public Editor.

And that's what I'm trying to show you about.

Mr. Tin got T. Herman Zwiebel *and* A. Birch Steen?

Curse you, Mr. Tin!

Hmmm... an anagram of "A. Birch Steen" is
"bash enticer".

fits pretty well to me.

Well of course Dan has low paid impersonators going to bar openings and low rent indie events...he's a busy man and doesn't have time for that low-quote shit. He has to conserve his energy for skeet shooting with Bill Maher and cocktail parties with Anderson Cooper, (grwwl!)

A. Birch Steen can also be an anagram for "Beaten Chris"--possibly a clue as to Steen's real identity, or ultimate fate!

Who on the Stranger staff is named Chris?

Can't be he, Sir.
