Recipe for a Perfect Summer Evening

posted by on August 2 at 21:06 PM

Gather your loved ones, a blanket, beverages, and takeout from Saigon Deli, Baguette Box, or your neighborhood sandwich shop. Take your provisions to Myrtle Edwards Park (enter through the Sculpture Park if you feel like walking; park behind the Amgen campus at the north end if you don’t) and set up a picnic. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a lush lawn, a cool breeze off the water, an entertaining parade of ambulating humans and canines, and 100 or so sailboats racing the length of Elliott Bay.

You also will need a time machine. This has to be done in July!

That's my path to and from work every day.

But now there's two problems with this post.
1. As commented above, it's August now.
B. The weather is crappy again.

Yes, it's August! Thanks. Shall I take my post down since the weather changed overnight? Or since I skipped the requisite Slog cynicism?

If ya like sailboat-race-watching, here's Cdc's Official Schedule for Picnic Dinners in A Park While Watching Sailboats:

Tuesday: Gasworks
Wednesday: Golden Gardens
Thursday: Myrtle Edwards

You should find at least fifty boats offshore of each of these parks at least until Labor Day...

What the fuck does August have to do with anything? The post doesn't specify a month, and last I checked, the summer months were technically June-August, regardless of whether or not this is reflected by the weather. Am I just hung over, or do all of these snarky comments not make sense?

@10 - They made sense yesterday when the headline was "Recipe for a Perfect July Evening".
