Bonita Suid-Afrika

As for Southern Africa, this is what I miss the most:
teaser_135.jpg The beautiful veld. Looking at the picture makes me long for things I hardly noticed while living in the cities of Southern Africa—anthills, balancing rocks, and bush paths.

Isn't she British? Grew up in Leeds I think. Neither parent from South Africa...

That's the dirtiest thing I've ever read of yours, Charles. "Bush paths"?

Ahh , clever Charles, claiming nostalgia for the veld with this photo of Corinne Bailey Rae jumping out of the wide angle lens. Post a photo of the veld sans British pop star then.

just think how much better the veld would look if that harlot were swaddled in a burkha.

god is very angry at you for trying to corrupt the faithful.

Alright max, i'm not going for sardony or irony here. I'm commenting simply because I've made my very first canvas painting artwork purchase above $25 this afternoon, and this is my dismal celebration. Originally priced at $2,500, the sweet ladies let me have it for $200. Had nothing to do with my charm or personality, the thing had just been hanging there for 3 years, and their asking price dropped steadily in the meantime. They said noone ever seemed to even express beyond glancing interest.

I'm pretty happy with it. It was done in the 70s by an American artist, has a Dali dream quality to it, though with 'grit' in the media/medium? application to take it out of the airbrush feel of Dali. It's got steel-grey tonal multiple figuresques backlit by a tide of yellow to(a jumbled Roy G. Biv) blue small bubblylined cloudshapes. Decent size too, about six Mona Lisas.

I'd like to store it on someone else's wall considering my neighborhood is crime ridden, with a different transient calling various Econoline shapes homesweethome every week within a stone's throw of my front door. Who know's, maybe the 'spirit' of the work will serve as a pitbull's growl.

Oh, I completely forgot. Some guy at that bugwig foo-foo thing a couple weeks ago in belltown. Yeah, his parents were from South Africa. He was telling us that salmonfood wasn't actually pink, but articially colored. I mean, this is a guy, a CFO of a local company (um, can we just say 'accountant' instead of Chief Financial Officer?), a guy who's face goes Dilbert blank at the mention of James Watt, forget forgetting names of people in the not so distant past, but um, never actually hearing of them? Oh, brother. Anyway, wowsers, it's warm out today.
