Another Gay Marine

posted by on February 28 at 14:05 PM

This one happens to be the first marine wounded during the Iraq war. When he was in the closet, he was on Oprah, Bush gave him a Purple Heart, and Donald Rumsfeld offered him good wishes, according to the Washington Post. Now he’s out and lobbying for the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

The truth is, something’s wrong with this ban. I have to say something. I mean, you’re asking men and women to lie about their orientation, to keep their personal lives private, so they can defend the rights and freedoms of others in this country, and be told, “Well, oh, yeah, if you ever decide to really meet someone of the same sex and you want the same rights, sorry, buddy, you don’t have the right.”

Oh sure, and maybe we can have an All Gay Brigade for cannon fodder along the lines of Chef's all negro unit in South Park: BLUC.

No thanks.

They're so desperate that they're taking high school drop-outs, felons and drug addicts.

I say repeal the law after the Iraq War is over. Despite the fact that they'd be working for the United States, a right-wing country that hates us and condemns us, an estimated 40,000 young gay men and lesbians would join the service if the ban were lifted today. By keeping the ban in place now, we're saving their lives and preventing them from becoming accomplices to Bush's lies and war crimes.

Absurd? Possibly, but it’s no more absurd than the people who approved the ban in the first place or the insanity of politics today.

One of the most heroic groups of men in the middle ages were 300 Gay men! They stayed behind(no pun intended) in the face of certain death from the invading Persian army to cover their battered armies retreat.Gay people are just as capable of loving and defending their loved ones and country as Heterosexuals are. Our country is based on FREEDOM; not freedom as dictated by some uptight religous asshole. Even Thomas Jefferson realized that the words of the Constitution spoke of equal rights for ALL men; Black, Gay,or otherwise. Why don`t we all try to embrace a little freedom ourselves.Jesus will love you for it.

As for the current '300', yes gays save Western Civilizaton, AGAIN! Not for the first or last time either. If the film fails to acknowledg this, well there are those who deny the Holocaust or that slavery in the South wasn't all that bad. Still the FACT is - the Spartans were men who had sex with other men and LIKED it.
