Re: Senator Hanging In There

posted by on December 14 at 11:15 AM

There’s prayer, and then there’s Senate procedure.

And as it turns out, according to Time.com (via Wonkette), the question of what happens to Senator Johnson may not be as important as the question of what happens on Jan. 4, when an obscure “organizing resolution” goes up for a Senate vote.

A Republican fillibuster at this time would be great for the democrats. I don't think the Republicans have the political support to sustain a fillibuster.

Some would say the Prayer Warriors have already finished their work.

This is going to be very interesting to watch come January.

Hopefully Robert Byrd, ancient buzzard that he is, will dust off some of his old Senate rule manipulation tactics. He won't give up being President Pro Tempore that easily.

When 3/4 of America wants the Dems to be the Decider of the frickin quagmire in Iraq and economic decisions, I think an upset like that would just infuriate people - including the 1/4 of GOP voters who voted straight Dem.
