How about this one from Talking Points Memo? Republicans taking campaign donations from "gay porn king" (Josh Marshall's words).

I don't see how you get the term "militant activists" from the story you linked to.

Would you use the term "militant activists" to describe the people who were attacked in the streets of Seattle in 1999?

From the story you linked to (Reuters): "Police carrying shields and wearing gas masks took over the colonial city's picturesque main square after hundreds of activists with metal poles and sticks surprisingly abandoned the plaza, their bastion for five months, without a fight."

Those killed include a nurse hit by a tear-gas canister, and an American journalist and activist killed exicution style while armed with a camera and tape recorder.

The protest began with teachers striking for better pay.

Teachers, union organizers, a nurse and a journalist versus federal troops.

Let's frame this in a way that frieghtens Americans about Commies at the southern border just in time for the election.

Nice.

Regarding the shootings, at least in the U-District -- KING5 was laying the blame on "girls who bring outsiders" to parties. No further explanation, just "it's girls' fault". WTF?

Kevin Tillman, brother of the late Pat Tillman, has written an incredibly moving, eloquent and wonderfully succinct call for a change in the country’s leadership and direction.

Choice excerpt: “Somehow America has become a country that projects everything that it is not and condemns everything that it is.”

Using the term 'outsider' to describe the shooter is also irresponsible. Technically, I'm an outsider. Does that mean I'm packing heat and shouldn't be invited anywhere? I think not.

Seattle: Imposes 'critical areas' ordinance on rural King County, won't let property owners chop brambles or touch swampts, but chainsaw-massacres trees in Occidental Park.

Seattle: Bulldozes midnight-minority basketball court in Belltown; makes chainlink poop run for yup-scale designer dogs & rich white people. Reverend Jesse Jackson & Reverend Al Sharpton don't riot: say wa?

Seattle: City Librarian Deborah Jacobs builds a $170-million glass-house monument to herself; tries to balance her budget on the backs of the poor, now forced to pay for print-screen prints. Pigeons poop copiously on Koolhas. Kool.

Seattle: Liberal First-Amendment fundamentalists shout down pro-lifers at UW, profile & exclude Mike-ites at taxpayer funded school's Democrat propaganda pep rally, profile & exclude black man (Dinesh D'Sousa) from Bill Gates' More Science Hi School.

Editor,
Please read the article carefully yourself. 3 people were stabbed in the 1200 block of Westlake Avenue N. right by S. Lake Union.

Golob >yes, I love the irony that Detroit is second. But taking the top spot for this (again) sucks.

If you ask some of the people in my neigborhood why, it wouldn't be long before someone blamed the blacks. (I live in a very white, republican, god fearin christian area)

Oh, one more thing...MO recently passed a concealed carry law. Looks like it's working great in The Lou.

The St Louis crime ranking also doesn't take into account the suburbs, which is where 2/3 (at least) of the population lives-- it's much, much less crime-ridden there, as Mike in MO can probably attest.

Out of curiosity, which white, Republican, God-fearing, Christian area are you from, Mike? I grew up in the Central West End, which I loved-- one of the few places in the city that wasn't a huge mess.

Megan >Jefferson County. And yes, if you take the suburbs into account, I think Detroit would overtake The Lou...
