Trash The Mayor Can’t Get No Respect

Heaven knows the Stranger has had its share of wild typos, but The Seattle Times has a nice whopper of its own in today’s edition—spelling the mayor’s name wrong in a headline:

Nichols turns down audit challenge by Rick’s strip club

The story itself is pretty interesting. Erica C. Barnett first reported on it in yesterday’s Slog.

I call it the "Christy McNichol" effect when someone spells his name like that.

Idiots who can't spell shouldn't be allowed to write for publications. The ability to speak and write Standard American English is an indicator of intellect. I spend my day looking for typos, most educated, urbane people do.
