More YearlyKos Photo Blogging

Posted by on June 9 at 8:05 AM

Ok, I’m aware that no one was impressed by this image from the blogger conference that I’m currently attending in Las Vegas. (Said one commenter: “Dude, that looks seriously boring.”)

Well, it got better as Thursday went on. Here, from a Thursday afternoon caucus session, is Maureen Dowd, grilling Jerome Armstrong from MyDD:

Maybe she’s thinking, “Dude, this is seriously boring,” but it didn’t seem that way. Guess we’ll find out in her next column. Also here at the conference: The New York Times’ Adam Nagourney and The Washington Post’s Dan Balz, so look for stories in those two papers soon about the netroots’ big meetup in Sin City (and please put links to the stories in the comments if you see them before I do).

Later Thursday, Markos Moulitsas ZĂșniga (aka Kos of DailyKos) addressed the blog-struck masses. Wondering what he looks like? Here he is:

And just so you don’t think this conference is all geeks staring at their computer screens:

A slight detour: This is for Jen Graves, and it was taken on a walk through the Bellagio with a very nice science-minded guy from this New York magazine. (For the record, I blame the lack of focus in this picture on the fact that in Las Vegas, one can walk down the street carrying a margarita poured into a giant plastic pagoda):

Finally, here is Gen. Wesley Clark, rallying the tipsy blog troops at “The Joint,” in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino:

So, are you having fun?

Yes, despite the fact that I'm awake at 8am this morning for the first panel discussion of the day. This panel is called "Championing Science," and it's ok -- lots of preaching to the choir. Later this morning there's a "Plame-ology" panel, which sounds completely geeky and a lot more interesting... Rumor is Joseph Wilson may participate.

But, I do wonder if the "Kossacks," as they call them, are having fun. I don't think Las Vegas quite fits the style of most liberals who are intensely involved in the blogosphere... Kos, in his keynote yesterday, said the average age of a "Kossack" is about 45. Fill in the rest of the descriptive details about the conference attendees using your stock of stereotypes about hard-core liberals, and you probably won't be that far off. Then imagine them all hanging out in a decaying hotel at the bad end of the strip... It's a weird scene.

Dude, that does look seriously boring.

I had a way more fun time last night at the Premiere for Shinobi, an awesome Japanese Samurai Ninja movie. And so did all my peeps. Three thumbs up!

Now, take some crazy pics ASAP, you're boring the pants off of the bloggers back home!

I'm still waiting for a shot of Arianna's jugs.

You and everyone else in the comments, Mike. I hear she's arriving on Saturday... And of course I will post an Arianna photo as soon as I can snap one.

Your humble servant in blogger stalking,

Eli

Forget Arianna's breasts, more MoDo photos please.

Not a fan of her column, but damn she's Ho...ho....HOT!

Maureen Dowd is a babe.

And she'll sass ya!

You don't have to be independantly wealthy to attend the blog conference in Las Vegas. Just look at the photos, there are plenty of working poor, single mothers who work full time, and homeless street people promoting their blogs.

Even poor people can easily take a week off work, pay for hotel and airplane reservations, and conference fees.

Anyone who doesn't have $1,000 to spend attending a conference just doesn't know how to live.

Hey, Eli, Joe Wilson has been hangin' with the netroots the whole time. At last night's "Mojo Mixer", he was sitting (with Seattleite and dKos front pager mcjoan) at the table next to mine.

Thank-you for allowing viewers to observe the efforts of many bright minds. Your site is educational and a pleasure to review.
