[the previous posting got screwed up, trying again...]

Am I missing something? Isn't this important enough to report on?

Three days in and nobody seems to give a shit.

Makes all the protests against the Iraq war ring hollow when an Army officer refusing deployment is so completely ignored by the blogosphere.

whatever. the US MSM wants us to rejoice because they killed Zarqawi and his little girl (was she 3 or 4?), and Zarqawi was at best only 5 percent of the Iraqi resistance and within 45 minutes his group had announced new leadership in place and kidnapped more people.

it's all a clusterfvck in Iraq anyway, sooner we leave, the better. be glad to stop wasting $6 billion US in tax dollars a day on it.

Not to nitpick, but the language in the Iraq article stuck me as something I'd expect to see from The Nation or Mother Jones, not TIME Magazine. Is this what they're teaching in journalizm skool nowadays?

These fighters have their own beef with Maliki's mainly Shi'ite government, which they see as a tool of Iran.

Let the gratuitous Ebonics translations fly.

"whatever"

That's my point. You should be happy that there isn't a draft Will - yet!

William Jefferson is still very 'in.' And will probably cruise to re-election in November, thus assuring Democrats that their minority interest in the culture of cowwuption is safe.
