Eyman Fails!

Posted by on June 6 at 17:06 PM

From the Associated Press:

Initiative activist Tim Eyman and other foes of Washington state’s new gay civil-rights law failed to submit enough voter signatures Tuesday to force a public vote this fall.

Full story (for now) here.

P.S. to Tim Eyman: Fuck you.

Lazy Eyman...

ding dong the witch is dead!

couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

oh, and get ready for the tidal wave! more results from CA and MT tonight ...

And did you see how Chris Vance (of all people) blasted Eyman.
Awesome -- give it up for the luck of the 6-6-6!

Thank you, jesus!

And being the Media Whore(is that one word or two?)that he is, he still had to make a huge production of it, and call a press conference, and drive up to the Capitol steps 15 min. before the deadline...what a tool.
Do you think he didn't get enough attention as a kid? He just wants to be Luved! Ya, they'll blame it on 6/6/6, witchcrafting lesbians, and say it just proves that The Gays are from hell...
Well, Tim, God has his own little circle of hell waiting for you...

A message in the scare in spite of Eyman's failure: the more of ya'll who vote in the governors races the more signatures it takes to get a referendum approved. Had he succeeded, the new law would have been put on hold until November, and even if it had failed, that's ridiculous. Given the craziness of the state constitution, the one way to prevent that is to vote in the governors race. Vote green if you must. Vote for a socialist. But get your little vote in to make these idiots have to work harder.

Thank your icon of choice this happened. I still shudder at thinking how close we came to having Washington Won't Discriminate "lead" the fight otherwise. If you want to talk about your close calls, there ya go.

Tim Eyman is a loser!

Thanks for all the support the Stranger gave me in this failed, but worthy effort. I particularly appreciate the $1000 check Dan Savage wrote in the final push to get the required signatures. Dan, I am sorry, especially because now you will just have to be a man and fire that *HOMO* Josh Feit without the cover of the law.
Sincerely,
Time Eyeman

Rev Joe, Dart Eyman and Rev. Ken are three of a kind …. And blaming each other for the total failure to exploit homophobia is comic opera and anti morality play of the best sort.

Yes, the devil is in the details. And in the enterprise. Darth Eyman and bigoted co horts are simply on the wrong side of the issue.

This is the FIFTH or SIXTH failure over 20 years to get enough signature to use the Initiative process or Referendum process to bash and slash from various anti gay combos. When do they admit the voters don't want to sign their petitions? That even thousands of church goers under pressure from the hierarchy did not put out.

Eyman was not the problem en toto -- the theory that you can ride homophobia to political victory in Washington State has proven a badly flawed no win strategy.

It is a great victory for gay and lesbian folks. Today and over time. We won -- and there is joy and relief in queerdom today.

Yes, great relief. Now, were will all the gay money and political energy channel between now and Nov? To Democrats, folks, to Democrats.

Please NOTE – the DEMOCRATS holding firm against the anti gay marriage fiasco in the U. S. Congress.

In this election cycle, Queers and Latinos will propel the Democrats into offices across America, a healthy swing vote amalgam good for decades……animosity toward the Republican party has reached flat out scorn and total avoidance from gay and lesbian voters. Black community as well. Latinos soon to follow.

Interesting to note that Eyman raised 4,000.00 for his effort and the Gay Community counter effort was at 120,000.00 and building rapidly to defeat him in Nov if needed. Energy, money and organizing resources were at the ready on a massive scale state wide.

If money is the mothers milk of politics, Darth and company has been stuck with sucking dry titty….or titties…..as you like.

Washington Won't Discriminate had gotten past early jitters and was ready for the big time all out effort to defeat the referendum attempt -- beware Rev. Joe, Rev. Ken and new blowhard, Rev Randy.

My favorite American Revolution slogan is ” Don't tread on me” — seems to be about right as a warning to the bigots and homophobes, in church or secular. Beware, beware.

I will continue to send my money to gay community organizations. I Will not however give even a dime to the Democrats. They cannot be trusted with our rights. Remember it was Clinton, a Democrat who signed the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act into law. Another Democrat Mr. Gore defended the Defense of Marriage Act during the 2000 election. In 1995 the Democratic Attorney General Janet Reno refused to side with the gay community before the US Supreme Court in the Ammendment 2 Colorado case (we won without Reno anyway) And we can win other rights like marriage rights without supporting the unreliable Democratic Party. Queer money and time is wasted on the Democrats or Republicans. Queer money and time is better spent on grass roots organizing.

It's been my sorry experience that most "queer" organizations, grassroots or not, are innefectural money wasters, staffed by neurotics and media whores, who perpetuate infighting amongst themselves. When the real issues come up, and they are needed to lean on the pols, they disappear like little churchmice when the pastor turns on the light.

Even their fundraisers are annoying, ranging from browbeating "we're gay so you must support us no matter what" to over-the-top extravaganzas that show they have little regard for how they spend our "queer" money.

Agenda oriented politics at its worst. Makes you long for the days when a fundraiser meant potlucks at a union hall.

Hey is it --- all mouth and no money - or -
