The Seattle City Council will be interviewing the 14 semifinalists for vacant City Council position #9 all day, from 9 am to 5 pm. Tune in live online or check out Slog for continuing coverage.
Of these semi-finalists, only Darryl Smith walks in the real world, as you and I might know it. But given the agenda set by the sitting nincompoops on the City Council, likely he won't be selected because he is gender-incorrect. (Yes, he is African-American. But whatever happened to just having a good brain and having something to say?)
Tonight, as I stood in the line to see the new Albert Brooks film - two thumbs up from me and my pal, John on that one - "Looking for comedy in the Muslim world," who should walk by to take her place in line, but Jan Drago. I wanted to run up to her and say, "You should have chosen Al Runte, you twit!"
Oh well, saved my breath on that one.
