We Regret the Errors

Posted by on December 13 at 13:35 PM

www.regrettheerror.com, a site dedicated to documenting newspaper screw ups, just released its Crunks ‘05:
The Year in Media Errors and Corrections.

It’s pretty funny stuff. Here’s a highlight:

The Denver Daily News would like to offer a sincere apology for a typo in Wednesday’s Town Talk regarding New Jersey’s proposal to ban smoking in automobiles. It was not the author’s intention to call New Jersey ‘Jew Jersey.’

LOL this is hysterical. Did you see last year's winner?

2004:

Correction of the Year

Perhaps the easiest pick of all for our round-up was this amazing correction from Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader. On the 40h anniversary of the passing of the Civil Rights Act this year, the paper published this amazing apology: "It has come to the editor's attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission." Simple, elegant, brave. Better late than never.
