Thoughts in GW and BO's heads:
"Crap, we wore the same outfits!"

Posted by jon.e.rock | November 10, 2008 11:15 AM

Hopefully Dubbya won't offer hand sanitizer this time...

Posted by Andy Niable | November 10, 2008 11:15 AM

now THAT is an awesome dress, michelle.

Posted by ellarosa | November 10, 2008 11:17 AM

I think Michelle Obama is taller than Bush. Awesome.

Posted by StrangerDanger | November 10, 2008 11:18 AM

Laura got her dress at

Posted by henry o henry | November 10, 2008 11:22 AM

What was the purpose of Laura Bush again?

Posted by BenJ | November 10, 2008 11:24 AM

Michelle Obama seems uncomfortable. I'm sure the others are, too, she just isn't hiding it as well.

Posted by frostillicus | November 10, 2008 11:26 AM

oh what a beautiful, beautiful picture.

...the right half anyway.

Posted by onion | November 10, 2008 11:29 AM

I think you meant the left, didn't you? Literally and figuratively.

Posted by AMB | November 10, 2008 11:35 AM

The only person the movie W made me like more was Laura Bush. She was actually kind of cool in the flick. I wonder if she's that chill in real life.

Posted by Carollani | November 10, 2008 11:39 AM

Nice dress, again. Am liking the red, red, red.

Hmmm, where will the kids go to school?
Public, private?

Posted by PC | November 10, 2008 11:40 AM

Somebody add thought bubbles, stat.

Posted by Greg | November 10, 2008 11:42 AM

That dress makes Michelle look like she's about 10 feet tall.

You know what's fun? Hearing about all of this transition stuff. I'm pretty sure in 2000 I just drank myself into oblivion to try and forget my troubles, so I missed it all...

Can Obama be president NOW?

Posted by scott in Chi-town | November 10, 2008 11:45 AM

good riddance to white trash...

worst president EVER

Posted by bitchy not scratchy | November 10, 2008 11:49 AM

i want to start a cult that worships michelle obama. i can't wait until she runs for president in 2016.

Posted by um | November 10, 2008 11:55 AM

I volunteer to drive one of the moving vans if we can just load them up NOW.

Posted by Will in Seattle | November 10, 2008 11:57 AM

I like the wives being in the middle. It means Obama didn't have to wear a "I'm With Stupid" T-shirt, with the finger pointing, in order to distance himself from Dubya.

Out With the Old…

If this election demonstrated anything, it's that that ellipsis should be an exclamation point.

Posted by Olo | November 10, 2008 12:01 PM

i can't wrap my head around this meeting. what could obama have possibly said to bush? i imagine it would be something like,

"so...uh, you pretty much sucked as president and i'm gonna reverse everything you did. will you get out of my house now?"

Posted by douglas | November 10, 2008 12:07 PM

Michelle Obama is SMOKING HOT

Posted by hot damn | November 10, 2008 12:11 PM

Poor Laura Bush looks like she hasn't been fazed by anything at all since about 1978 or so. Brown, with that Dorothy Hamill hair? Dreary, poor thing, but I don't think she gives a rat's ass.

But what can you say about the Divine Michelle? She looks amazing here because she IS amazing. Tall, smart, and confident is a pretty good hand to play. And BLAMMO! anyway -- she just fucking pwns the color game, looking great in yellow, red, orange, blue, purple, black & white. Color-wise she hasn't made a misstep so far. She doesn't have the well-born prissiness of a Mrs. Kennedy or the Bonfire of the Vanities grossness of a Mrs. Reagan. She's set to be the most fashionable First Lady of our lifetimes.

Pardon my gush.

Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | November 10, 2008 12:13 PM

Only in America could we, in one election, go from our most shit-kicking president (Teddy and LBJ be damned) to this class act from Chicago. And Michelle seems to have a liking for Nancy-Reagan-Red dresses; and wears them well. Poor Laura seems already to be going for schoolmarm/librarian couture. Why not just complete the Nixon metaphor and get her a cloth coat and the Bush twins a puppy named "Checkers"?

Posted by Andy Niable | November 10, 2008 12:14 PM

George: God, I can't wait to get out of here. I thought this was going to be a cake walk, but this presidency thing has been a bitch. Heh, heh.

Laura: La di dah. More valium please.

Michelle: At least my tits don't sag half way to my waist.

Barrack: Just keep smiling, honey. They'll be gone soon.

Posted by Reverse Polarity | November 10, 2008 12:16 PM

looks like W spent the last four years under a tanning light - soon he'll claim he was the first president of color.

Posted by brilliant | November 10, 2008 12:22 PM

Michelle Obama is fucking magnificent.

Egads. The only things Laura's outfit is missing are packaging tape and stamps.

Posted by Dominic Holden | November 10, 2008 12:48 PM

The dress is lovely, and from what I can see in one of the NYT photos (as the two couples walk into the White House, Obama's hand on W's shoulder) her shoes really perfect the outfit.

Hey O.M. I tried to post a reply on the Facebook site, but not sure it went through.

Count me in, though!

Perfect! :) You may have to join the facebook group to post a reply... =)

has W been fake baking? i can't remember him *ever* being that tan in November.

Posted by CryinLion | November 10, 2008 1:01 PM

Original Monique -- what am I supposed to be doing?

Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | November 10, 2008 1:16 PM

Michelle looks like a million bucks.

@11: Word on the street in DC is that the kids will go to Sidwell Friends, the private school Chelsea went to.

Posted by Eliza | November 10, 2008 1:40 PM

So, will any of Laura's friends tell her that, now she's no longer in the public eye with such a doofus as George, she can wear some good foundation garments?

Seriously, it's about time we had some class in the White House, and Michelle knows how to bring it, and Obama is there too.

Posted by Will in Seattle | November 10, 2008 1:42 PM

A concho belt would been nice on Michelle's dress. There needed to be some relief from all that red.

Posted by raindrop | November 10, 2008 2:16 PM

I'd love to see them play 2 on 2 ball. Michelle woulnd post up W like a bitch.

Posted by Mike in MO | November 10, 2008 2:53 PM

And maybe throw in a ladylike elbow just for good measure, @37.

Posted by Will in Seattle | November 10, 2008 3:32 PM

"As the Obamas were arriving at the White House, several hundred protesters on Pennsylvania Avenue chanted “No More Wars” as they waved signs condemning President Bush and Vice President Cheney."

Posted by Trevor | November 10, 2008 5:04 PM

yay for the most corporate financed candidate ever, and btw how come no one cares how much michelles wardrobe cost.
