Google Street View Finally Comes to Seattle

posted by on November 5 at 12:27 PM

Apparently done covering all the important places like Shreveport, Louisiana and Abilene, Texas with their street-level photo feature, Google has finally gotten around to adding Street View for poor little Seattle.

Here’s Stranger helpdesk wizard Brian, forever enshrined on 18th Avenue.

Wow. I sort of expected someone with.. you know... a face.
On the other hand, lacking a face could explain the long load times, liveslogging crashes, and double posts all over the place...

Newsflash, Sloggers: You are no better or worse than the people in Shreveport and Abilene. And they are no better or worse than you.

God, you people are insufferable.

It is about damn time. I saw they had street view of Kelso, WA a couple weeks ago, and I was like "WHAT?"

I saw them by our mailbox facility, about thirty yards away and made the shot!

Uh, @2. Do you think, just maybe, the comments about Abilene and Shreveport were because they are much, much smaller towns than Seattle? So, it seems a little weird that Google would have picked them first over Seattle, since they could reach more people with the technology that way? Sheesh.

It's about time. Now I can comfortable stalk those addresses from the Hell House article without leaving my chair.

#12. If having a picture of your house and children on Street View worries you, ask Google to remove it/them. If you click on "Street View Help" on the picture(s), instructions will pop up telling you how to report inappropriate images.

I love Street View and would rather see parents request removal of individual pictures than have city managers request Google remove an entire city's images to protect children. My house is on a private street so it will not be included in Street View, but if it were and my children were photographed, who knows - it might creep me out, too. So please do exercise your right to request removal.

Spokane has had street view for 1-2 years so it's pretty weird we're just getting it.

There's another site like google street view with pictures in Thailand and the SF Bay area. Not many cities but much higher quality! http://www.mapjack.com/

I can look straight into my condo. Wish I would have known they were doing it, would have mooned them... or at least went out onto the deck naked or something!
