Savage Love Letter of the Day

posted by on October 9 at 10:27 AM

I get more letters at “Savage Love” than I could ever hope respond to in the column or in print. But until October 16 you can get a guaranteed response by going to www.noonprop8.com, making a donation of $25 or more, and sending me your question along with your donation confirmation email. Today’s letter is from a reader that donated $50 to the No On Prop 8 campaign.

You’re crazy, you’re going get thousands of emails. Impressive and heroic, what you are doing. I’m sorry I couldn’t give more, I’ve given all my spare money to Obama the last couple months. Anyhow, I know how to fix low female libido. A woman can do it herself with a trip to GNC and the grocery store. It works in about six weeks. With men it works faster, although it speeds up orgasm in both men and women, so it’s a mixed bag for men. For women it’s all good. It’s mostly high-dose fish oil, but the diet also involves taking vitamins and minerals, eating a 40/30/30 diet, dark chocolate, and avoiding certain foods. I’ve added the entire thing at the end of this email. Please let women know. My question is, what can I do to persuade you my science is good, so you can tell women and help them?

You already did it—well, I’m not necessarily persuaded that your science is good. It may be, for all I know. But your donation persuaded me to post your email—your long, long, long email—the rest of which is after the jump…

I’m not writing this to get you to pimp my book, I don’t care if you just tell women these things without mentioning me or my book, I’ve got an ax to grind—I want women to know, and I don’t care who tells them. I can’t get funding because of the Republicans in power, there’s no funding for any non-pharmaceutical research, much less for a study on God forbid female sexuality. I’ve got a great double-blind placebo-controlled crossover study, a superb PI, Dr. Ridwan Shabsigh at Columbia University, my mentor helped Pfizer with the design of the (failed) trial of Viagra for women, Dr. David Ferguson, and I have a friend at the NIH, Dr. Joseph Hibbeln who is one of the world’s foremost experts on fish oil. I’m so frustrated, I’ve gotten private funding for my study three times and lost it. That’s why I wrote a book, to get the word out to women that way—The Orgasmic Diet. But my book run is done now, I did what I could. I was on Rachael Ray, Katie Morgan (they shot it already, I think it will be on in the spring), and lots of magazine, newspapers, radio. Rachel Kramer Bussel went on my diet and had good results, along with the journalist from Self magazine, I showed Betty Dodson firsthand what my body can do now. It’s embarrassing being on display like I’ve been, I’m like that grandmother Kinsey found, I have several dozen orgasms a day and can have hundreds in a row. Women who are like me tend to be quiet about their abilities, but I’ve had to make a public ass out of myself to get the word out, when in a just world I would be getting funding and could get let women know through my science, by proving it to the medical community. Hundreds of women have gone on my diet, my response rate is about three out of four women. When I was on Rachael Ray she had three women try it and they all responded. It really works. If you feel hesitant about recommending it, you can have female (or male if they don’t mind speeding things up) volunteers try it first. It helps with libido and orgasmic ability in general (also erectile rigidity, not as much as Viagra). In particular also helps vaginal and prostate orgasmic ability. Lesbians have tied it and were pleased to gain a newfound appreciation of their dildos. I’m sorry this is so long, you can stop reading now. The main part of my diet is very high dose fish oil. For a 130-pound woman I recommend 1700 mg of EPA and 1300 mg of DHA per day Do not take fish oil like this if you are taking blood-thinning medication like Coumadin, take lots of OTC pain relievers, are on aspirin therapy, are scheduled for surgery, have a defibrillator or are allergic to seafood. Stop taking if you notice excessive bruising or if cuts bleed too long, or if you feel really spacey. Check with your doctor if you have any medical condition or are taking medications. Start off gradually with one or two capsules a day, gradually increasing over a couple weeks to the full dose to let your body adjust. Always take with food. I recommend a fish oil brand with at least EPA + DHA > 500 mg per one one-gram capsule. Check the label carefully, sometimes the serving size is for two capsules. See below for dosages by weight.

Also take a good multivitamin every day and also take the RDA of calcium/magnesium/zinc, usually three pills a day. Try to get some additional Vitamin C, I recommend a glass of orange juice in the morning.

Avoid caffeine, no coffee, tea, or caffeinated sodas. Also avoid energy drinks. And when you can, avoid alcohol, although this one isn’t as important as the caffeine thing. Absolutely no tofu, soymilk or anything made from soy like Balance bars.

Eat a half ounce of good dark chocolate every day, like Lindt 70% or Dove Dark Promises.

With foods, try to get a 40/30/30 balance at every meal, with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables rather than starchy and sugary carbs. In other words, try to get protein at every meal and some fat too. The type of fat is important. Saturated fat and monounsaturated fats are good—fatty meat, butter, cheese, olive oil, canola oil. No transfats whatsoever, and avoid polyunsaturated fats like corn oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil and safflower oil whenever possible.

The diet works better if you aren’t on hormonal birth control, and probably won’t work if you are on antidepressants.

For gaining or improving vaginal orgasmic ability, also exercise your PC muscles twice a week with the Gyneflex or Kegelmaster device for twenty minutes with a rhythmic flexing—try to close it, and once you can, move to a stronger level.

The fish oil dosage goes by weight:

130 pounds—1700 mg of EPA, 1300 mg of DHA
170 pounds—2500 mg of EPA 2000 mg of DHA
230 pounds—2400 mg of EPA 2600 mg of DHA

Don’t go over the amount for a 230-pound woman.

That’s the whole thing, pretty much. As long as you only have a cup or two of coffee in the morning, the effect should wear off by nighttime.

I question her statement that Dove is "good chocolate", and I also think she'd be better off with a fish oil supplement with added paragraph breaks, but yeah, it's a decent diet.

I can have lots and lots of orgasms, and I pretty much live on Diet Coke and Hershey's Kisses.

Sure lots of women have easy orgasms and high libido--that was for the women who write in and have problems with having a libido lower than their partner's.

The thing is, you can really taste it when someone takes a lot of fish oil.

@10 Not if it's good quality fish oil, ultra-refined.

I totally agree with Fnarf- Dove and Lindt are NOT high quality chocolate.

I've tasted my own cum before. Like, a lot, and it doesn't taste like fish oil, so I think I'm good.

Maybe it depends on the person and how they metabolize things. I'm sure quality is a factor though. In any case, I've tasted worse things, so whatever.

But, Mr. Poe, maybe you are used to the taste, have you had objective confirmation that your spunk isn't funky?

An acquaintance of mine was actually in the test group for this particular diet, and without giving too many details, she affirmed quite emphatically that it did work for her.

I'm one of those rare, multi-orgasmic, can have uncountable orgasms in a row, can come from penetration alone--or nipple play alone--or, or, or--and I drink ridiculous amounts of caffeine, and never take fish oil. So you've got to give some credit to just genetics, or natural aptitude, or whatever it is I have.

Posted by lymerae | October 10, 2008 11:09 AM

Oy. Did I say that my way was the only way to become superorgasmic? No, I did not. But I went from takes forty minutes of intense stimulation for a clitoral orgasm to clitoral orgasm in under five minutes of light stimulation AND I am now super-multi-spontaneously vaginally orgasmic. And other women can and have gone through the same change on my diet.

Very few women are born with the lucky genes that allow them to be easily vaginally orgasmic. I'm just helping out the sisterhood here, cut me some slack. I just thought women might want to know--I sure found it was handy to know.

Well, I sure hope you get a double-blind study soon, because that would be great if it could really help women

Marrena, I'm happy with my orgasms, and I doubt I could do without caffeine so I don't think the diet is right for me. BUT I wanted to say that I think it is awesome you are doing this, and that you seem so dedicated to making life better for many women.
