One Poll That Burner Will Like

posted by on October 14 at 9:45 AM

So far, every poll that I’ve seen of the race between Democrat Darcy Burner and Republican Congressman Dave Reichert in the eastside’s 8th Congressional District shows Reichert winning by an even larger margin than in 2006.

This morning, however, brings a unique poll finding: A survey conducted for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee shows Burner up by 5 points.

Obviously that result should be taken with a huge grain of salt given who commissioned the poll. Further reason to doubt the result: A poll conducted immediately before this one, and commissioned by DailyKos, showed Burner trailing by 8 points. (Another poll in early September had Burner behind by 10.)

Given that the Seattle PI and Seattle Times both endorsed Reichert, things look grim for Darcy.

Ugh. The eastside is so gross.

Eastside pays your bills, bitches. Without us, you'd be the Newark of the West.

Can't the Dems run someone better than Burner? She is a terrible politician. She is not a warm cuddly reformer a la Obama. She brings no excitement.

That said, she is right on the issues. I didn't want to vote for her since she seems like a pretty face controlled by Democratic operatives. But her policies are the correct ones. Reichart is wrong on Iraq and on the economy (and most social issues).

For those who don't get deep into the issues (and watch debates on PBS), she is not a natural choice or a good politician. She's not going to rally the independents or marginal Republicans which is a significant portion of Eastside voters.

Dems, run someone better!

@4: we did try someone better: an actual politician, with a record, who has even won elections: Rodney Tom.
He withdrew shortly after entering the race, largely because of Darcy's Nutroots fundraising, and because party support dried up in favour of Darcy. Why they thought the race would be any different this year, I have no idea. So now we have Reichert for life. Great. Nice job, kids.

Medina - so let me get this straight, Burner is right on the issues, but not "exciting" enough for you. Is Reichert exciting enough for you? He was just about brain dead, on numerous levels, during the debates last week.

Burner beat out Rodney Tom because she's actually a Democrat. Rodney has a ways to go yet to prove himself on that front.

@6 yeah, but I saw him on TV talking about how he caught the Green River Killer! Hell, they made a TV movie about him. Now that is what I call excitement!

Just sayin'
