This Is What “Fuck You” Looks Like

posted by on August 14 at 15:50 PM

The Politico informs us that the Obama people have started punching back at Corsi’s Obama Nation, in the form of a free 41-page PDF file titled Unfit for Publication with this cover:

I’ve only just begun to read this free ebook (!), but I can tell you that it offers a page-by-page attack on the ‘facts’ in Obama Nation. It also declares that Corsi is a “bigoted fringe author” and one of their first reasons in the long list that he’s nuts is that he’s a 9/11 Truther. (Also, the book ends with pulled quotes that prove Corsi to be a Catholic-hater and racist.)

One can only hope that this PDF gets distributed as quickly and efficiently as news of Obama Nation’s publication has spread over the last few days. I can tell you that the introduction to the ebook is one of the most satisfying fuck yous I’ve ever read in politics. I was going to put this after the break, but then I remembered all the people who accused me of advertising for Obama Nation yesterday, and so I’m leaving it all above the fold. Please read it.

UNFIT FOR PUBLICATION: Setting the Record Straight on the Lies in Jerome Corsi’s “The Obama Nation”

Once again, bigoted fringe author Jerome Corsi is trying to make money off of an election, spinning garbage as journalism and relying on the right-wing echo chamber to pump up sales. Make no mistake: “The Obama Nation: is nothing but rehashed lies.

The allegations: rehashed lies

Corsi’s falsehoods about Barack Obama have been discredited by numerous news organizations, which have questioned his “scholarship,” his conclusions, and his ideological bent. This report will take you through the allegations point by point. Despite Corsi’s high opinion of his own scholarly abilities—he childishly touts the number of footnotes it contains, for example—he gets many of even the most basic facts wrong, like the year the Obamas got married.

As you might expect from the book’s shoddy foundation, many of its claims are also completely false. The Obama’s never gave a million dollars to a Kenyan politician. Obama has no secret plan to destroy the military. Obama has regularly shared many of the facts about his family that Corsi claims he has covered up.

The author: a discredited, fringe bigot

Of course, the lies in “The Obama Nation” almost pale in comparison to the bizarre, conspiratorial views that Jerome Corsi has advocated in his broader work. He believes that President Bush is trying to merge the United states with Mexico and Canada. He believes that there is a literally unending supply of oil beneath the ground. And in perhaps the gravest sign that his views can’t be trusted, he alleges government cover-up of the 9/11 attacks and denies that airplanes were to blame for the towers’ collapse. And it doesn’t stop there. Corsi has penned a litany of bigoted, hateful comments—crossing the line so thoroughly that even the right-wing operatives behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth disavowed him. This is a man who smears the Catholic Church, calls the Pope “senile,” and regularly demeans public servants in vile sexual and racial terms.

In short, his record of attacks is disgusting and false, and so is this book.

Books: they make reading fun.

Posted by Ziggity | August 14, 2008 4:02 PM

I don't support one side or the other, but I'd mention here that being the #1 NYT bestseller is also "one of the most satisfying fuck yous I've ever read"

Posted by john cocktosin | August 14, 2008 4:27 PM

A zillion-page PDF is nice, but they need to get this material out in more manageable gobs. Maybe a "rebuttal-of-the-day" press release, try to get each point onto TV every day.

Posted by Fnarf | August 14, 2008 4:46 PM

@3: "I don't support one side or the other" is one of the more unbelievable things I've ever read on this blog. See my post from yesterday--linked above--about why the #1 NYT Bestseller thing doesn't really matter.

Posted by Paul Constant | August 14, 2008 4:47 PM

A rebuttal of the day would be a terrible idea. Can you imaging creating a news story each day to give this guys book daily promotion?

Obama should say something simple, to the point, and then never mention it again.

Dwelling on this is exactly the wrong way to handle it.

Posted by Timothy | August 14, 2008 4:57 PM

Since my blog has been called "boring" by none other than Slog's Julie, I'll link to the satisfying fuck you instead.

Posted by elenchos | August 14, 2008 5:00 PM

I hope the PDF doesn't really say "the Obama's."

Posted by leek | August 14, 2008 5:06 PM

Timothy @6: on second thought, you are absolutely right and I am absolutely wrong.

Posted by Fnarf | August 14, 2008 5:20 PM

Leek, unfortunately, it does indeed. And they aren't quoting Corsi, either.

But on the bright side, I checked the dozens of other instances of "Obama's" and "the Obamas" in the rest of the document, and they're all correct.

I hope they fix the document being linked to.

Posted by elenchos | August 14, 2008 5:20 PM

Yes Obama should be defining McCain/GOP as folks who started an illegal war that is wrecking our constitution and making us weaker, not safer, also wrecking our economy when the need if for retooling and investment to deal with climate change and the Chinese, etc. And that they did it for power and money, through lies. That's why they are silent on this book -- that's why they lied us into Iraq --and tie it all together.

You know just rebutting smears isn't enough. That's defense. When is Dem PArty going to stop being such pussies and play offense? Just saying McCAin is a celebrity, too, really isn't the kind of all defining, educational truth we need for real change and a permanent realignment.

Just sayin.' Not that this rebuttal book isn't a start, it's great, it's just not enough.

Posted by PC | August 14, 2008 5:25 PM

PC, if you and your buddy larry johnson devoted just a fraction of the time you spend smearing obama towards smearing mccain instead, your point @11 would be completely moot. as it is, your point is rather ironic and a little sad, but mostly infuriating. fuck you.

Posted by brandon | August 14, 2008 5:37 PM

problem is, there are incredible questions out there still about 9/11, including how the hell does a 47 story building collapse when it wasn't hit by a plane (wtc7)? fire? chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Posted by mcbush | August 14, 2008 5:37 PM

A pro-bush Truther, how does that work?

Posted by K | August 14, 2008 5:39 PM

Okay, I get it, the guy is looney. But the pope thing. I think he got that right.

Posted by Vince | August 14, 2008 5:51 PM

One huge issue here. it does nothing to blame mcCain. So it's not hurting McCain, while Obama will inevitably take some heat from the accusations.

Posted by confused one | August 14, 2008 5:52 PM

Fuck you, McBush. It couldn't possibly have had anything to do with the two 100-story towers that just collapsed next to it, could it? Fucking Truthers. 100% of your "questions out there" and your vacuous theories are complete and utter horseshit.

Posted by Fnarf | August 14, 2008 5:57 PM

K@14: The guy also accuses Bush of plotting to bring about the paranoid's meme of a North American Union. The guy is batshit crazy, and he is more anti-Democrat than he is pro-Bush. Anyone to the left of Pat Buchanan is a godless commie, to this slime.

Of course, McCain/Bush will hold their noses and gratefully accept any good this loon does for McCain's campaign.

Posted by also | August 14, 2008 6:30 PM

Not a fan of Corsi but actually Fnarf.

NIST has backed away from the idea that the debris damage south side of building 7 could create a symmetrical collapse.

If the damage was as extensive as you assert the building would have fallen over asymmetrically, toward the south, it did not.

Posted by Bald Face Lie | August 14, 2008 6:31 PM

Please do tell us what your engineering credentials are, Bald Faced Shithead. And tell us how much better they are than those of the American Society of Civil Engineers, or the National Institute of Standards and Technology. All of whom are presumably, according to your refrigerator-bulb theories, bought off in some unfathomable fashion. Right?

The simple fact is, you haven't got a fucking glimmer of a clue what makes a building stand up or fall down.

Posted by Fnarf | August 14, 2008 6:44 PM

So, you pick a crackpot, and Obama goes after him full force, and somehow Barack considers that "answering his critics".

Posted by John Bailo | August 14, 2008 7:35 PM

Hey, go here, have it load your contacts, and blast it out to everybody just the way idiot right wingers do.

It's lame, but come on. Fuck it. Just do it. Email everybody.

Posted by Clay | August 14, 2008 8:12 PM

An interesting question is: will more people download this ebook for free than pay for Obama Nation?

Posted by Stinky | August 14, 2008 8:16 PM

Now Wait just one minute there ass monkey. The only and I mean only reason that this book is #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List is because certain right wing organizations went out and ordered copies by the case load. Those books will be sitting in some warehouse until after the election when they make it to a city dump. The reason, so little idiots like you would parrot "#1 NYT Best Seller." So, that said, know what you are talking about or stfu!

Posted by Sad Comment | August 14, 2008 8:35 PM

Susan "Whitey Tape" UnPC - you shouldn't be talking shit about shit. Go fuck yourself.

Posted by oh come on | August 14, 2008 8:45 PM

The BHO campaign doesn't seem to have included the same comments from the AlexJones interview as the NYT did, giving a different take on his quote:

That's odd. It's almost as if the BHO campaign is trying to fool its followers. Oh well, I guess that's what various cults have done too, so no one should be suprised.

Posted by TLB | August 14, 2008 9:03 PM

I, too, would like to request that Susan un- PC would please "fuck off" in a way that is likely to cause her to "die." Thx.

Posted by elenchos | August 14, 2008 9:19 PM

@19: Fuck you and your stupid misleading bullshit. As has been well documented, WTC 7 was on fire for most of the day, which is something that could, you know, potentially compromise a building's structural stability.

If I took you seriously, I'd suggest that you read Charles Pellegrino's book Ghosts of Vesuvius. He talks about downblasts and gravity surge clouds and shows parallels in the destruction wrought by Vesuvius on Pompeii and Herculaneum and the destruction on lower New York City wrought by the collapse of the Twin Towers. However, since you're just a tinfoil hat-wearing, police-scanner-cradling clown shoe, I know you won't bother with anything that contradicts your cherished delusions.

Are you one of those Truthers who also think that Bush is having secret boxcars with shackles built in California, or that the Masons are holding aliens in secret tunnels underneath Denver International Airport? Probably. That kind of stupid shit is right up your alley, isn't it.

You people are so unhinged it's just sad.

A fringe bigot?

Was it Corsi or Obama who spent 22 years under the tutelage of a Black Liberation Theology racist chump, calling him his "mentor"?

Was it Corsi or Obama that has repeatedly played the race card everytime he was forcefully criticized?

Was it Corsi or Obama who counted stark racists Father Pfleger and James "house n*ggers" Meeks as his spritual advisers?

Was it Corsi or Obama who spent his youth reading poetry and learning lifes lessons from an anti-american, anti-white, communist.

Was it Corsi or Obama who worked with the anti-semitic, anti-white, anti-american Nation of Islam on the Million (divided by 10) Man March?

Was it Corsi or Obama who hired a Nation of Islam member to be the treasurer of his Senate campaign?

Was it Corsi or Obama who hired 'good friend' and anti-jewish, terror enabling Mazen Asbahi to be his muslim outreach corrdinator (had to toss him under the bus with Meeks, Wright, grandma and the rest when the crazy rightwingers looked into his past)?

Was it Corsi or Obama who jetted off to Kenya to support the candidacy of a man, Raila Odinga, that named his son Fidel (after Castro) and his daughter Winnie (after Winnie 'the necklace' Mandela?

Was it Corsi or Obama who has maintained a friendship and working relationship from the most vile, unrepentent domestic terrorist Bill Ayers?

Is it Corsi or Obama who has hired another black Liberation Theology stooge, Leah "Jeremiah in a skirt" Daughtry to run his convention?

Is it Corsi or Obama who has vile anti-american, pro-terrorist Code Pink founder, Jodie Evans, on staff as a prime campaign cash bundler?

Now tell me who is the fringe bigot again???????

Posted by pissant | August 14, 2008 11:54 PM

Haven't read the entire slog comment so excuse me if this has already been mentioned.

The creators of the PDF should make a bookmark of just the introduction and then guerilla marketing by placing them inside every "Obama Nation" book

Posted by Simon | August 15, 2008 12:06 AM

I think the fact that he's a 9/11 Truther is most disturbing to the Right; therefore, I'm trying to spread that fact alone.

What a friggin' crackpot!

Posted by JP | August 15, 2008 1:25 AM

@31 - This game looks like fun.

4-Neither (Unfit for Publication, 9-10)
5-Neither (ibid, 26)
8-Neither (ibid, 11-14)
9-Neither (ibid, 16)

So again, the fringe bigot is Jerome Corsi (ibid, 34-40)

Posted by Chris in Tampa | August 15, 2008 2:44 AM

As i do not believe the baloney we have been fed about 9/11, as one of a giant swath of America who doesnt, and in-fact largely point the finger at rat bastard Zionist scumbags in the FBI, CIA and state department, the OSP and the WH, it seems an odd thing to point out what Ed Asner, Rosie O'Donnell, etc etc also believe as a means of discrediting the book...

The Jewish False Flag 911 Anthrax Terrorist Attack Exposed (sort of)

Psychotic Zionist Jew Bruce E. Ivins, who allegedly committed suicide Tuesday, was on the verge of being arrested for 5 counts of capital murder in association the anthrax attacks against some members of the media and government, and was apparently part of a wider government plot, likely in coordination with the rabid PNAC Zionists who dominated Bush's cabinet and the Office of Special Plans, the greedy asshats who cooked up America's current middle-east misadventures...Some motivated by the Israel project, Zionism at large, or simple greed and disregard for the cost in human life. I suppose it depends on your definition of human, no??

As to who in government to look to for answers, according to Glenn Greenwald in yesterdays, the folks at ABC News might be the ones to start asking, for example who from the WH gave them bogus info, which they eagerly repeated?

To subhuman asshat Mr. Bruce Ivans, i will let his words speak for him, may he rot in hell...

"By blood and faith, Jews are God's chosen, and have no need for "dialogue" with any gentile. End of "dialogue."

Bruce E. Ivins, Jewish 911 anthrax terrorist

I noticed "Human Events"(Right Wingnut "book service") took it off their web site. The were recently inviting their email subscribers to get this book for free! Kinda like free cheese. Their big book now is "The Audacity of Deceit" which appears to be equally devoid of facts and is merely an far right ideological jerk off session which the arousal comes from the fear its supposed to incite. Fortunately, not everyone is into that sort of kink at at $19.95 (down from $25.95) I doubt too many pages will stick together.

Posted by Jimmy | August 15, 2008 6:54 AM

Sounds like a great book, will have to check it out.

Fnarf and yourself should read the FEMA report or the incomplete NIST report.. the reason I myself have questions. Both your statements and are no longer supported by FEMA or what NIST has done so far... I am misleading? think not.

FEMA report... read it.

"The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue."

The report from this further research is still pending.

Posted by Bald Face lie | August 15, 2008 6:58 AM

Bald Face Lie, every time you've been given specifics, you turned around and demanded specifics on the specifics.

You're like the anti-evolutionists who complain about gaps between species. When we find a fossil that fits halfway between two species, they then complain about two gaps! Ad infinitum.

Unlike the prior opponents of the Red Bushies, John McCain not only has to deal with being the shortest and oldest candidate for President, but the fact that Obama not only WILL fight back, but that he does so EFFECTIVELY.

Don't pick fights if you can't stay the distance, John. Especially when, like the wars you want America to be in, they're predicated on LIES.

Posted by leek | August 15, 2008 11:49 AM

It's only a bestseller because so many damn Republicans ordered them in bulk, it will drop quickly soon.

Posted by Tj | August 15, 2008 12:08 PM

Besides, Obama's next book is coming out in a week or two ...

Posted by Will in Seattle | August 15, 2008 12:41 PM

That "buying in bulk to turn the book into an instant best-seller" is the same trick Scientologists and Xians have been using for years to keep their mythological texts on the best seller lists.

Posted by MikeinSanJose | August 15, 2008 12:59 PM

The only reason this book is at #1 on NYT best seller list is because republican groups buy out all the books to get it to the #1 spot so that it will get attention.

Posted by liberalisnotadirtyword | August 15, 2008 4:48 PM

Being a 911 truther isn't really that crazy. Considering the lack of evidence on building 7 and some other interesting things that can be added up, I'd say, I'm about 50/50 that much of the "historical record" is a lie, as much as it's true. That's 50/50. And I don't really want to think that some of the things that happened were known about. But given some of the history of our government, even in recent years, why would I put it past them? Am i supposed to think they have some kind of morals and ethics they wouldn't kill innocent people? Sorry, they haven't proven that to me either.

With all that said, this book should be unpublished, no censored, but the publisher shoud pretty much wither and recall it. Publish a fact-checked version if you have to.

Posted by ms | August 15, 2008 7:33 PM

Pissant, the problem with your list of facts is they barely matter. Just like the media pick our small things, you've just grabbed onto those. Way to research!
1. I have a really good friend and mentor that is kind of a rush limbaugh listener and holds many views completely opposite of mine, but he's still a great guy and mentor. Opposite me. And we get along well. If he ended up being a child molester, I'd feel really bad, but that doesn't mean I didn't learn some great stuff from him, doesn't make him less of a mentor. A man could tell you all of his life's mistakes and be the best mentor ever. 2. Who cares about names, Fidel and Winnie. You know how many Filipinos are named Fidel for many reasons? SOOOO?

3. I've followed pretty much everything in the last year and Obama hasn't played the race card. He's kept composure, unlike the MSM and those who have baited him immensely.
4. Million man march meant a lot of things to different people. You see it as one group. Sorry it wasn't even close to being a majority of Muslims.
5. You can't pick out thin associations and completely identify Obama with them. Well you can if you want, but remember Bush / Cheney / Bush Sr would lose that game. INSTANTLY and EASILY.

Meh you are a troll anyway. Not worth any more time.

Posted by ms | August 15, 2008 7:48 PM

You think you have a fold? Really?

Posted by Dale | August 15, 2008 7:49 PM

As much as I despise the content of Corsi's book and his attitudes, there are things in the article above I must question. For example, 3 buildings collapsed on 9/11. Why did the 3rd collapse? It was not hit nor damaged, what's the story? Also, there has never been a building constructed with structural steel collapse previously and jet fuel burns at a temperature too low to destabilize structural steel. What's the story? These are all separate issues from Corsi and should not be mentioned as reasons to despise his work. Rather, these are questions that should be answered.

Posted by Gary | August 15, 2008 8:52 PM

This cool story reminds me of another cool item of interest.

It is called a TravelScoot mobility scooter and it folds up like an umbrella and weighs just 35 lbs.

I bought my mother one for the holiday and she loves it.

She keeps it in a carry bag in her trunk. She takes it out anywhere, and starts riding it.

Now I can't get her to settle down and stay home.

She went to the mall and took the grand kids to the fair, she even took it on a vacation and rode it through the airport.

She says it has changed her life!

I finally did something right for my mom.
