Comments on No Biden Bounce

Sometimes I think you'd rather be right about something than for things to get better.

There was never supposed to be a Biden bounce. You only announce something like that on a Saturday if you don't want publicity. What you should be scared about not happening is a fall in McCain's numbers if Biden doesn't go for the kneecaps.

I'm not happy about this. Just panicked.

And I didn't say Biden would be good or bad, only that I didn't think he would be the VP pick.

Obama should have picked Gore, It would give Americans a chance to try to "redo" the 2000 election, at least to a degree. Or maybe he should have picked Hillary? Ugh, maybe not

On November 4 America will answer a question: Am I racist or do I want hope? I think we know the answer to that.

Worry if Obama does not get at least a 10 point bump after the convention. If he doesn't, we are getting McCain.

I'm chalking it up to the fact that for most voters (non-political junkie types), the name Biden is almost as much of an unknown as Obama was. Now, if the Obama campaign had found a suitable Kennedy as a VP, I would have been astonished if there were no immediate bounce in the polls.

I ran voter registration drives for the New Voter's Project in 2006. The democratic primary(and in Washington,the caucas) turn outs were high across the board. Those are new voters. The polls only poll, "likely voters". New voters are not "likely voters". They also do not call cell phones for the polls, so the younger demographic that increasingly only have a cell phone are also being ignored.

The hope is that the huge primary turnout will lead to a huge turnout on election day(and none of the voting places are set up to handle that kind of traffic), and those unaccounted voters are more likely to be Obama supporters.

I don't think the bounce was ever supposed to come from Biden being announced...

I think it will come in the next few weeks, when Biden starts giving Republicans the ass pummeling they so richly deserve.

Biden was a choice of a man who is confident he will need a DC insider to help him GOVERN.

And I applaud that choice.

It is waaaaaay too early to even be concerned about these polls. We've got over two months until Election Day. Biden will prove to be an effective VP choice, and Obama is gonna do some big things tomorrow.

@10--the cell phone theory is a myth. polling groups have been accounting for cell phone usuage for years now when conducting polls. sorry to burst your bubble.

It doesn't matter anyways, we really don't have a say at all. The assholes in the flyover area of the country are such ignorant rednecks that we're going to be stuck with this asshole McCain and Mittens Romney for four years of shit. I'm sick to my stomach about it. UGH!

@2 right because polls showed HRC gave Obama a 6 poitn bounce immediately and the whole reason to pick Biden is he's not HRC, who is too strong a rival to have so close by.

@16 - How can they "account for" cell phones when they're not polling them? Estimating, sure, but based on what data? It just doesn't wash.

Yeah I understand about donating and such, but the $5 I can afford really hasn't had the effect I wanted it to. It's come down to my harassing everyone one I know in those states with information and hopefully the tools to make a better decision come November. My big problem is though, the fact that I'm really starting to believe my nutty "left-wing" friends when it comes down to election fraud and corruption. I'm beyond convinced that this government do evil and I think 2000 and 2004 are perfect examples of it. Say la vie.
