I was always amused that Cummings was not only not responsible for the lack of capitalization in his name when published but was against the decision at the time.

On a tangential note, it's apparently a myth (perpetrated incorrectly in the preface to an edition of one of his books!) that E.E. Cummings legally had his named lower-cased and that he generally personally preferred the lower-case style. Neither is true:
