That style only works outside of kitsch when it's original, from the 1950s-60s. Done today it can't climb over the wall of irony that surrounds it.

@8 then its even worse art... it feels condescending. my main argument is about the fear. was that 'idol', do we know if it is an idol?, supposed to invoke fear. and, if it was what kind of fear. good fear/bad fear?
