Come ON! When are you going to slog about Max Mosley, the president of F1 racing (and son of the former leader of the British Nazi Party), who was caught on videotape having a Nazi SM sex party with five prostitutes? FIVE PROSTITUTES! Suck it, Spitzer, you got nothin'.

Re: Tolls

I don't think people will like it when I-90 or 522 starts backing up like 520 does...

Posted by TheMisanthrope | April 2, 2008 9:17 AM

P.S. How about a installing a train to get across before you start implementing tolls? Hrm?

Posted by TheMisanthrope | April 2, 2008 9:20 AM

We must read the same newspapers, Fnarf! I sent a Slog tip about that on Monday...

Will Clinton supporters find this story as embarrassing as Obama supporters will find it depressing?

Of Obama, Duser said: "I'm not crazy about voting for a colored guy, but that's not why I don't support Obama. I'm not prejudiced. I just like Hillary."

A couple tables over, Jean Fetterman, a foster grandparent, said of Clinton: "Oh, I love her. She's a very intelligent person, and she has her husband who went through this."

She scoffs at the idea of voting for Obama: "I don't want to be a Muslim!" She looks dubious when told Obama is Christian. "Then why did he go see what's-his-name over in Iraq, that Lama?"

Oh my god that was painful to read.

I know, BA@7. That would've been a pretty accurate picture of my own Rust Belt home town, too, sadly.

That settles it. I'm riding to a taco truck for lunch!!

Ubi carnitas et salsa
Deus ibi est
Congregavit nos in unum
tacorum amor...

My lunch plans just changed.

Thanks Erica!

^Not sarcasm.

Hey tsm:

Thanks for following up on Obama's call that we should talk about race. So let's continue the dialogue, okay?

You have made a fair point: some HRC supporters are racists!

Take that one named Duser. He referred to OBama as a colored guy. How racist! The correct term is African American. Or, multiracial. Which means saying he's black is okay and and saying he's white is wrong. Even though this is really cultural. Anyway, anyone who notices or says he's a colored guy is a racist. OF course, if the person speaking is a "person of color" and refers to "person of color" that's okay and is not racist. Right?

As to Jean Fetterman, who thinks Obama is Muslim -- wow, you found an ignorant person. The polls show 8 or 10 percent think Obama is Muslim. Yes, you are correct, there are ignorant people in the USA and they say the most ridiculous things.

Now let's look over at another table -- oh lok there's Rev. Wright! He said that the USA government invented HIV. To hurt minorities. The white dominated USA government. Implying: white people are guilty of genocide in regards to HIV.

Boy, what an ignorant person. Okey dokey, that's make ignorant people on both sides.

Oops, Wright's not ignorant, he's a public leader with all kinds of degrees. HE's got a huge platform a webstie and preaches to thousands every Sunday for decades.

Guess it was just a "mis-spoken" statement eh?

Oh he also said the Italians crucified Jesus.

Oopsie again!

Actually it was the Romans who (a) weren't Italians, actually most people in the Italic peninsula at the time couldn't even be Roman citizens, and (b) culturally and nationally the Romans of then aren't the same as the Italians today. You know? Those Catholic Italians today? Catholics being the folk the Romans threw to the lions?

So wowie zowie we gotracist ignoramuses on both sides. Right?

But it's not really equal's Obama's ignoramus who's been preaching falsehoods. it still okay to talk about race? Or is it ony okay if you talk about it in a way that certain folks agree with, and if you disagree, you're a racist?

@11: Chill the fuck out.

Posted by Greg | April 2, 2008 10:51 AM

Hey Fnarf -- thanks for the Mosely tip. I'm a Mitford fan, so found it doubly interesting.

Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | April 2, 2008 10:52 AM

@11 - go jump off a tolled bridge.

Posted by Will in Seattle | April 2, 2008 10:53 AM

Mark, I was surprised to hear the Mosley connection too. I wasn't surprised to see the pictures of him spanking hookers wearing Auschwitz uniforms (my first, borken link); he's English after all.

Abby, I suspect we read the same papers all the time, both looking for news about Arsenal, but hoping for different results. Reds are going to shock you today....

Posted by Fnarf | April 2, 2008 11:01 AM

That's the funny thing about Tottenham fans- Arsenal fans don't feel the need to go trawling the news looking for stories about Tottenham, we have other things to think about... ;)

Late breaking news:
Mayor Nickels is proposing a 20 cent tax on bags at grocery stores and a ban on the foam clamshell containers at restaurants.

Every bit helps....

Posted by Cleve | April 2, 2008 11:45 AM

I'd like to point out that Leno apologized on April 1st.

Posted by monkey | April 2, 2008 11:53 AM

Off topic: Wait, it only cost Mosley 2500 pounds to spend 5 hours with 5 hookers? Those chicks totally should've charged him more.

On topic: If there are tolls on 520 does that mean a)People will move to be closer to their jobs b)Eastside companies will re-locate to Seattle c)People will drive either around the top or the bottom of the lake to avoid paying tolls thereby clogging 405 and I-5 even more.

For me at least, the sad thing about that story isn't that there are racist or ignorant Clinton OR Obama supporters per-se, but that, in this day-and-age ANYONE who has the ability to read beyond an eighth-grade comprehension can still believe the things they do!

Granted, a lot of the MSM doesn't help matters by parroting whatever the party line is of those they not-so-objectively support, but it's not like there aren't literally scores of alternatives - heck, alone has links to several hundred daily, weekly, and monthly news publications scattered all over the globe.

It's just the notion that there's all this INFORMATION, but people still can't get either their facts straight, or their personal biases straightened out, that simultaneously amazes and infuriates me.

I can barely hear UnPC's muffled ranting through that white hood.

Posted by still wondering | April 2, 2008 2:36 PM

UnPC . . . *sigh*

Duser's statement, "I'm not crazy about voting for a colored guy," is not racist because he uses the term "colored guy". It's racist because he is using colour as the sole basis of his judgement of Obama. That's what prejudice IS.
