I believe people tend to think in terms of percentages of their income/wealth more than they do absolute price, at least subconciously. That, and raising the price of something often produces the unintuitive result of more sales because of a false perception that your product is of a higher quality.

it is sad anytime someone young gets caught up in something because they weren't taught better, or because they want to take the easy way.

i see this with kids dreaming of playing professional sports, with musicians around town, with friends who started selling drugs. you hope they make it, or at least make it through (or at the very least don't get caught!).

i don't know the details of this story, but as others have pointed out, she doesn't seem to have a very good plan. and yet other young girls are going to see $4000 hooker and a singer and get the same idea "kristen" got not too long ago.

i still don't think prostitution should be illegal. looking at the bills, certainly the governor was taken advantage of as well and didn't -- in the end -- know what he was doing either. finally, women and men who are 22 years old are mature enough to make these kinds of decisions, and certainly don't need any extra protections from the law. that does not change the fact that it saddens me when they make poor decisions.
