Ok
So the Santorum name game was a fun one. I think this one goes so far beyond the pale that we should use her name to mean something that will make her regret ever saying those despicable things. Perhaps it is time to use her name for something bigger than fecal matter... however appropriate that would be...

but... I feel every time a gay man, woman or child is harmed... somehow her name must be used in the body count...

could we start www.sallykerngaybashbodycount.com

i want her to have to live with her name being tied to the violence i feel she unapologetically tried to legitimize. Especially since one of her grown sons is a gay man...

thoughts?

ex. Did you see that prostitute in NY Kerning with the Govenor?

A 2nd? Anyone?

i realize my last post may have been slightly unclear
but
what i mean with the website is that everytime a gay person gets harmed by gay bashers we should start tying them to her...
make this vitriole her legacy
i have been to OK many times as my partner of 10 years is from there. He was beat up numerous times while growing up in that state...
they do not need one more person marginalizing and dehumanizing them...
if that is what she chooses to do then i somehow want her name to appear everytime something happens to a gay person...

there has to be a way to make this her legacy.

death threats? i wonder if she set up a bunch of hotmail accounts and mailed them to herself. also, i fucking LOVE the quote: "They have the right to choose that lifestyle. They do not have the right to force it down our throat."

The part that gets me is '"Studies show no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than a few decades," she said.'

Before you get too smug, Washington Republicans once ran a candidate for Governor who believed such nonsense. You really have to wonder about such people; where do they get this crap from? Why do they believe it? Sad, old, deluded woman.

but "sallykerning" could mean something...

or perhaps we could start The Sally Kern Gay Fund - which could be used to help pay for the medical expenses of people who have been gay bashed? or... could be a fund to help gay people take self defense lessons... perhaps best used as a local charity in OK?

HOW ABOUT....

The Sally Kern and her Gay son Fund...

it could be an organization that would try to help educate parents who disown gay children and bring them back together...

or i could just go back to thinking of her as one of the worlds most egregious cunts and move on

I kind of feel like she shouldn't resign, because that's going to make her a martyr figure to a lot of people, including herself. What's the alternative? Some kind of compulsory training, community service to gay organizations maybe? I love the idea of the Sally Kern Gay Fund.

I fully expected the results of the poll to be overwhelmingly for resignation but the forces of hatred are winning the day. 55% to 44% for not resigning. Step up, Slogians!

In the same vein as "Santorum," how about: Kern (v.i.): The process of extraction that follows when your overlubricated condom slips off your penis into your boyfriend's ass. "Damn thing slipped off. Now I have to fucking kern for it!"

Fnarf @ 8,

People believe it because they want to believe it. Sadly, US culture is based on fear, paranoia, hatred and hostility towards others.

Kansas had Gerald Burton Winrod, a popular evangelist known as the “Jayhawk Nazi,” and tell me if any of this sounds familiar:

"After observing the title of this book, some will accuse me of being anti-Semitic. If by this they mean that I am opposed to the Jews as a race or as a religion, I deny the allegation. But if they mean that I am opposed to a coterie of international Jewish bankers ruling the Gentile world by the power of gold, if they mean that I am opposed to international Jewish Communism, then I plead guilty to the charge."

Simply replace the Jewish conspiracy garbage with the terrifyin’ Homoseckshul Agenda® and presto! it’s Sally Kern, the “Sooner State Nazi!”

I mean, who cares if everything out of her mouth is self-contradictory and illogical; these people read the Bible and think it makes sense.

The area she represents is an older, Nazarene, heavily Republican district. She ran on an anti-gay platform and it paid off for her, however, the democrats did not field a candidate to oppose her in the previous election - she ran unopposed. I hope there's opposition this next time around.

No one seems to be focusing on the story that this vile woman actually apparently has a gay son.

It also makes it all the more upsetting, as can you imagine being that son and hearing mommy dearest say that you're more threatening to the country than terrorists?

@8. yeah, i was told that growing up. i do wonder where it comes from. was it completely made up? or is there some strange way to distort history enough to make it look like that. i think the most commonly used examples were greece and the roman empire.

just think, greece and rome would still be around today if they hadn't embraced homosexuality. instead, they did, and they fell. what's worse is that we see nothing of the former reigns: no writings, architecture, their names almost forgotten completely.

She reminds me a bit of a flounder.

This reminds me of (I believe it was) Phyllis Schlafly, whose gay son used to flounce around Phyllis's Alton, Illinois home's back yard. My partner, who lived next door at the time, told me about it.

I can't verify the story personally, but my partner had pretty sharp gaydar.

Although I find Kern's comments totally appalling, I voted "no" in the poll. She shouldn't resign, since she didn't commit any crime, just uttered some words -- words that show her totally unqualified to be a lawmaker, to be sure, but that's irrelevant to whether she's allowed to keep her elected seat. The price of a commitment to free speech is that all speech, however despicable, must be equally free.

Sally Kern claims that I, a gay man, pose a far worse threat to America than terrorism. That, alone, should tell you right away that this woman isn't playing with a full deck. And I actually thought Jerry Falwell was bad! How do people like this get elected? Why does society insist on placing bigots like this into high levels of authority? It's no wonder this country has been stuck in the Dark Ages for so long!

Can't Sally Kerns go to the Isaiah Washington Rehab where Americans lose respect for you and you lose your job?

Sidebar- does anyone suspect the majority of the death threats are probably coming from her son? And they're along the lines of them having dinner and him saying "Mom, I swear, I am going to fucking kill you"?

Here's an article on the supposedly gay son she allegedly disowned:

http://www.queerty.com/sally-kern-scrubs-gay-son-20080312/

It appears that the primary support for the gay son business is a couple of comments on stories about her.

Although, I think if we're going for the Santorum treatment here, the logical choice is that to "Sally Kern" is to "troll for a piece of ass in a library bathroom". What could be more apt than permanently associating her name with the act she supposedly disowned her rumored-to-be-gay son for?

Examples:

"Oh no- not him. He's nastier than Larry Craig. I heard he got caught Sallying Kern over at the university last week."

"I'm not gay- I just experimented in college a few times. Who amongst us hasn't Sallied a little Kern?"

Hi, Sara. This may be a bit off topic and, for that, I do apologize. But your jokey quotation, "I'm not gay...I just experimented in college a few times," immediately took me back to an online back and forth I had with some right-winger on Amazon last week about that new DVD, "For The Bible Tells Me So." He's one of those nut jobs who believes gay people can and should change, as though applying that idiotic philosophy to his own life would be just as possible. Anyhow, he went on to claim that he has a friend "who used to be gay but is now approaching his fifth year of marriage with two kids and a third on the way."

Uh huh, yeah.

It's uneducated unfortunates like this guy who probably hang on Madame Kern's every word.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Someone has got to put a stop to this woman.
We live in a pluralistic society, whether she likes it or not. If she wants a taste of a non-pluralistic society, she can move to the Middle East---there she would have no say, no public forum whatsoever for her views; and her face would be veiled at all times.

Please, somebody SIT on her and depose her from office! Okla. citizens do not have to put up with this kind of retrograde speech.
The dark ages are over.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations has reviewed ALL 7,000+ emails sent to Kern and have found a grand total of ZERO that contained death threats.

My thoughts on the "used to be gay" business are as such:

I find it unlikely that anyone "used to be gay". Because I don't think that being gay or straight has much to do with the frequency of how much you have sex. I mean, I haven't had sex in over a year, and it doesn't mean I'm not mostly heterosexual. They're not gonna take away my breeder card because I haven't gotten any play. (Are they? I'm worried typing this...)

So, if someone's pretty much exclusively attracted to their own gender, I don't think any amount of screwing the opposite gender is going to change their basic nature. You can change the behavior (engaging in gay sex), but it doesn't change who you naturally are (gay). Which is why I think all this "reformed gay" business is bullshit. Anyone can ignore their urges. It doesn't mean those urges don't exist.

And likely, I think sexuality is more of a scale than a discrete issue. While some people might fall at the polar ends of the scale and be almost totally gay or straight, most of us fall somewhere in the middle.

But let's not talk of all this.

I think Sally should be the verb, and Kern should be the noun.

"Yeah- I've Sallied Kern- you wanna make something of it?"
