Fairview Fanny: “Our city is changing rapidly, and not necessarily for the better.”

Naw, marijuana doesn't make you gay. It just gives you big tits.
What the fuck was that Fairview Fanny editorial all about? They go on about encouraging more affordable dense communities, but then bemoan the loss of single-family homes in Seattle. You get one or the other; take your pick. The demand issue isn't going away.

Seattle not changing for the better ...
Seems to me the wrong solution is more million dollar condos and low-density zoning maintained inside Seattle.
Which, of course (drum roll), means we need to seriously look at zoning and constructing inexpensive residential rental apartment buildings near transit hubs, of the order of 40 to 100 stories tall, with parkland/greenspace adjacent to them.
Changes like this sneak up on you. We are at an inflection point - and now is the time of decision for the future.
Will,
I like the idea of density near transit hubs, but the idea of towers in a park (or surrounded by parkland) has some troublesome side-effects. Have you read "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" by Jane Jacobs? I think you'd appreciate it.
