onBut I’m kinda fine with an overweight, lazy German military.
“The public perception is that soldiers are slim, sporty and healthy. Unfortunately, the reality is very different,” said Germany’s army commissioner Reinhold Robbe as he presented the report. Some 40 percent of soldiers between 18 and 29 are overweight compared to 35 percent among Germany’s civilian population, said the report, which also found young male and female soldiers smoked too much and failed to do enough sport.
By comparison, the Chair Force makes up 16 percent of U.S. military, but, as of 2005, obesity was reportedly the leading reason for discharging American soldiers.

Meh, it's nothing a little march through Poland won't cure. Shed those pounds, Fritz.
Perhaps it's time for a new reality show--German Soldier Fitness Challenge? Can we get Dustin Diamond in it somehow?
That is a great idea #2 the Germans even have a word for it:
deutschsoldatfitnessherausforderung
the germans let their food do their fighting for them
"Chair force." That's funny.
So what are the French? The Eclair Force?
who do they need to defend themselves from? the Danes?
Doesn't Germany have compulsive military service (like Israel)? I bet we'd have a lot of fat soldiers, too, if we required the Xbox Generation to hop off to boot camp at age 19....
The Germans' definition of obesity is quite a bit stricter than ours. Even so, they're smoking less and eating more, so perhaps they're thickening out.
But, in general, German soldiers are in good shape. Hot, even. And there's this:

@8: At least they aren't throwing puppies off of cliffs and laughing about it!!! I'd take goofy german soldiers over psychopath american soldiers any day!
