Defensive Struggle

posted by on March 17 at 10:10 AM

How bad are the Sonics? Last night they lost to the Denver Nuggets — by 52 points.

Denver scored 168 points—a new franchise record, and the third-most points scored in regulation in NBA history—while Seattle mustered 116 points of their own. It was like a Harlem Globetrotters game.

Thankfully, baseball Opening Day is just two weeks away. Rangers vs. Mariners, March 31, 3:30 pm. About friggin’ time.

I haven't followed basketball in a really long time, but was there some change in the rules/regulations that would allow a combined total of almost 300 points to be scored in a single game?

No rules changes. Just one really bad team and one decent team, neither of which play defense. But the decent team is much better at scoring than the bad team.

The Nugs scored 48 points in the first quarter. 48. In the first quarter.

Sonics who? Are they some t-ball team?

Just think how much the Doug Moe coached Nuggets featuring David "Skywalker" Thompson (73 points in one game pre-3 point line) would have scored on the Maginot Line Sonics.

Yes, the Sonics suck, but do you think the Mariners will make you feel better? It's the Mariners.

Wow. I didn't think that was possible.

Yeah, Will, it's a t-ball team. That's funny!

Sonics don't play defense, don't care what Carlesimo says, probs don't give much of a shit about each other, and aren't showing much about staying in town.

Who is this Will in Seattle? Is he some troll from Metafilter?

Yeah, you want to talk about packing it in... the Sonics quit in legendary fashion last night.

And the Mariners won't be THIS bad. They'll actually be somewhat competitive.

Let's hope so.

This team can't go to OKC fast enough.

Fuck yes. I can't wait for baseball season. Garlic fries, $8 beers, and that special feeling you get when even the Yankees fans are booing the Yankees...
