Too bad you can never taste it. Red beer forevs!
And they said clam juice and tomato juice would never last...
If they had a bud light and V8 I'd be down. I'm not a seafood fan.
Party in a can!
the bud light tastes better
Oh, chelada! The bane of my existence!
It's not that bad. I bit salty for me to consume more than a can of it, but I thought it'd be way worse. Probably more popular in your neck of the woods than most places actually.
I gave it a go around New Year's. Fucking. Disgusting.
It tastes better if you make your own with a Bud and a can of V8 - that way you can adjust the beer-tomato juice ratio to your liking.
While I was curious about these, a case of PBR and a jug of V8 is the best camping fuel there is. Slash hangover fuel.
no beverage should have the word "clam" in its name. i don't care if there actually is clam in that shit. then lie, dammit!
i can live in a world where tomato juice and beer go together, but add clam to the equation and my dwindling hope for humanity is all but lost. that shit just ain't right, y'all.
@ 10
Oh, no! Mike's Hard Limeade and gin. Not only keeps the party going, but prevents scurvy AND malaria!
Serious campfire medicine.
Someone showed up at band rehearsal with one of these the other night, and was mercilessly ridiculed.
Ewww!!!!
Yuck.
Now, the lime with beer is good tho.
Let's be clear - chelada requires Clamato. Red beer requires beer and any kind of tomato juice product. I wish I could draw a Venn diagram to explain...
That may be the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life.
According to Wikipedia, a michelada (preferred name over chelada) should have Worcestershire sauce in it, and hot sauce. Clamato is a recent innovation. It's like a Bloody Mary made with beer. That accords with my experience in Mexico (observing, not drinking; I won't touch the stuff).
@15:
( red beer ( chelada ) )
By the way, I like that this is "CHOW" and not, say, "??!!"
This is the best slog post ever.
These are terrible!!!
Excuse me while I barf...
Budweiser and Crab Juice FTW!
I know this is wrong but it's actually really good. It's the thing to drink when you want to show up your 21-year-old friends. They think a 40-ounce bottle of malt liquor is edgy and then you roll up with this delicious nectar like, what?
Maybe if they used a man's beer instead of the domestic cheep beer that tastes like stale piss?
Michelada served in a tall mug with a salted rim is a very nice drink in the afternoon in Guadalajara. I like those made at the little plaza cafe across from the Cathedral, which also happens to be conveniently located along a pretty cruisy stretch of pedestrian mall.
There is no standard recipe. The only musts are beer, lime, and salt. Salsa Tapatio is always offered as an option, and only occasionally does one find them made with a bit of tomato juice and salsa inglesa as well.
Had one of those the other day, not sure I caught any kind of buzz. The real street drink right now is Joose (orange label pref.)
apparently this is mega popular in the southwest.
OMG just when i thought my life couldn't get any better! I wonder if that's available up here in Canada yet... anyone know?
