Cheese Problems Solved!

posted by on February 27 at 16:51 PM

Another book contest, this one for odd book titles. The contestants:

I Was Tortured By the Pygmy Love Queen
How to Write a How to Write Book
Are Women Human? And Other International Dialogues
Cheese Problems Solved
If You Want Closure in Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs
People who Mattered in Southend and Beyond: From King Canute to Dr Feelgood

I’d rather see a contest in which authors have to write new books from these titles.

What's funny about Southend? Besides the accent, that is.

You should try to find a little book called "Bizarre Books" by Russell Ash and Brian Lake. It's an historical collection of this sort of thing, like The Resistance of Piles To Penetration, Making It in Leather, by Douglas Cock, The Development of a Procedure for Eliciting Information from Boys about the Nature and Extent of their Stealing, My Duodenal Ulcer and I, Songs of a Chartered Accountant, Cameos of Vegetarian Literature, My Invisible Friend Explains the Bible, etc. etc.

I liked this better when I heard it on NPR last week.

I think it could be something on the order of "America's Next Top Author"... wherein the viewers decide which author is best, and then the final task is to write a 100 page book off a title made by a separate contest within the show...

Fox'll cancel it after 3 shows.

"If You Want Closure in Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs"

Sounds like something Dr. Phil would write.
