Well, that (mistakenly) assumes that every square kilometer of the US is habitable, which, of course, isn't the case. Think Alaska, much of the high Rockies, the deserts. the swamps, etc., etc.

This is completely ignoring the fact that people don't spread out over all of the given territory. They tend to concentrate in urban areas...

Iam assuming that this calculation takes in every square kilometer of land in the u.s., which would mean giving up conservation land, federal parks, local parks, etc. in order to accommodate the 700 people per square kilometer. That would include 700 people per sq. kilometer of farm land as well. That would include 700 people per sq. kilometer of desert and mountain as well. And if not, then the use of land should be better spelled out. Is the land that is counted only those occupied by towns and cities, large and small? Given that 1 square mile = 2.589 988 km2, for approx. every half square mile, there would be 700 people on it. Who wants to live like that. Were that to happen, I think the rest of the world would find itself occupied by the decendants of its expatriates as Americans flee their country.

Reality Check

Personally, I think we should let whoever wants to move to America do so, so long as they work during their productive years, up until age 62, when possible. I just don't want a large welfare burden from immigrants if we can avoid it. And we could sure use the population base for more military recruitment if we continue to insist on running large wars in other people's countries.

So a better idea Charles would be for the United States to purchase the northern 1/3 of Mexico for a couple grand.

This would achieve a couple of things:

1. We could create a couple new states out of the new territory
2. all the current illegals could move back to their "homeland"
3. They could start up businesses of their own
4. The USA would have a ready made resort communities all along the new coast.
5. The resort communities would be warmer and drier, perfect for soon-to-be retiring baby boomers.
6. The resulting building explosion would boost the economy.
7. All the illegals would move back further south, thereby keeping some of the traditional cultural fabric intact for what remains of the U.S.
8. We could establish a new Southern border, and remove all obstacles to building a strong secure 3 mile wide DMZ zone inbetween a set of new fences.
9. We would offer a limited 1 year application process for any current Mexican citizen of good standing to apply for citizenship to the new territory.
10. We could build the new coastal cities with smart urban planning. The Federal government could get involved and control all the land use and planning, ensuring that density and transit is properly built out way ahead of time.

Sounds like a good start to me, and I don't see many obstacles or downsides.

Here's a thought: not everyone wants to live in America. In fact I'd guess a vast majority wouldn't.

And if we keep electing idiots, a growing number in America will be moving on as well.

The white population is shrinking and the darker population is rising and the racist 1/3 of whites are in a total tizzy that the day is coming when they will be in the minority.
