Obama’s a Muslim, but Clinton’s a Jew!

posted by on January 23 at 8:31 AM

While there’s obviously a subterranean campaign to convince people that Barack Obama is (gasp!) a Muslim who was sworn in to the Senate on a Koran, there also seems to be—at least judging by the e-mails we get here at The Stranger—a campaign to convince people that Hillary Clinton is controlled by the Zionists.

Here’s a bit from this morning’s installment from the “Civilian Intelligence Network.”

Let there be no mistake the Clinton’s have been chosen by the New York Zionist to be the next President’s of America . The agreement was made many years ago. Al Gore and John Kerry both won their Elections the Zionist cheated in New Hampshire and Nevada the Zionist represent the Clinton’s and the answers are below in the words of the Zionist on how they manipulate and cheat! Remember All Zionist Are Not Bad! The Zionist intelligence agency knew on 911 what was going to happen and let it happen to get the United Statesinto a war in the Middle East. Stay tuned for the story why the Zionist took out Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The inappropriate capitalization is annoying, but the inappropriate apostrophe -- three times! -- is too much. These people are sick.

a zionist and a jew aren't the same thing. you can be a zionist (someone who supports the nation state of israel) without being a jew, and be a jew without supporting israel. and yes, hillary and most of the politicians in the usa are zionists. and most of them aren't jews.

@2 is correct. However, the Clintons and the Bush admin are more "Zionist friendly" than actual Zionists and have been funded by this group in the past.

Is it newsworthy every time someone says something totally crazy on the Internet? This really isn't worthy of a Slog post.

Yeah, Josh, stick to the "newsworthy" stuff. You know, like rapes and murders.

@2 & @3 -
Please think through your line of reasoning. I give you the benefit of doubt. I believe you honestly don't know what "Zionist" is a code-word for.

An example: The Nazis didn't hate "the Jews" because "the Jews" only read the old testament or because "the Jews" wore funny clothes and played the fiddle.

The Nazis spread hate about "the Jews" because "the Jews" worked in secret cabals to undermine the interests of good Germans, to secretly support a Jewish State and to expand a hidden worldwide conspiracy for world domination or some-such.

They (originally) were fine with "the Jews" so long as they didn't act all Jewish and stuff.

To put it another way: Your statements work on the same level as "Not all black people are niggers" and "Not all gay people are flaming faggots".

Please. I know how easy it is to hate many of Israel’s policies and place in the world. I know how easy it is to hate the people who steadfastly support Israel.

Don't throw your hat in with the nut jobs who believe you can, in good faith, separate the people from the slur. You can't. "Zionist" is code word for "sneaky usurious swarthy backstabbing cheap Jew."

Off topic:

As long as we're noting the Obama endorsement by Sen. Leahy (D-Vt., pop 625,000) and such, we may as well note the Clinton endorsement by Gov. Rendell (D-Penn., pop. 12.5 million).

For the record.

I'm just glad the kook got his cases right. He refers repeatedly to "the New York Zionist", "the Zionist cheated", "the Zionist", "the Zionist", "the Zionist", "the Zionist".

Because there is only one.

I think it's funny that right-wing nutjobs can't tell the difference between Obama and Keith Ellison.

six-shooter:

The Nazis spread hate about "the Jews" because "the Jews" worked in secret cabals to undermine the interests of good Germans, to secretly support a Jewish State

Yeah, you're taking the piss. It can be reasonably argued, without any exaggeration or racism, that Zionists -- as opposed to Jews -- have, in fact, operated in secret cabals to undermine the interests of the United States and secretly support a Jewish state. LEHI offered to cooperate with the Nazis if they would guarantee a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Zionist groups within the U.S. use political contributions to negotiate weapons and political favors for Israel. Operation Wrath of God sent Mosad agents all over the world to assassinate civilians on foreign soil without the knowledge of local national governments. None of this is conspiracy theory crap. It's all on the public record and even an ardent Israeli Zionist would admit it.

The Zionist goal obviously isn't anything particularly sinister. They want to protect Israel. But they are absolutely ruthless and often conspiratorial in that pursuit and it makes you sound like a cunt to pretend otherwise.

As far as "code words" go, "code words" is a code word for "thought crime."

@11 tsm:
Yes, recently, right here on Slog, we've read postings about a few other Obama endorsements, too, such as I think the Senator from Missouri, the Gvoernor of Arizona, another Senator from Nebraska (or Kansas or someplace moderate), the NV culinary workers union, and so on.

The key endorsements are relevant and newsworthy, don't you agree?
All good grist for the mill, no?

Lately Obama's been getting more of them. I think Clinton has more, still.

More news: in Salinas CA the United Farm Workers Union (started by Cesar Chavez and Dolories Huerta) also endorsed Clinton:

7, i have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. i stand by my statement that the two words are not interchangeable, they are not synonyms. i was correcting josh in a schoolmarmish, pedantic fashion, and "slurs" and hate and nutjobs (um...you might be one) had nothing to do with it.

Um, I think this is based on the MSM Beltway types pushing their pre-chosen candidates of Sen Clinton and Mayor Guiliani while America is rejecting them.

There are loons everywhere. I think most Jewish people I know are split fairly evenly between Sen Clinton and Sen Obama in this state.

Fnarf,

Not only is there apparently just one, but "The Zionist" also seems to have some wicked superpowers to boot.

And where the heck is Ishur to chime in when we really need him/her?

@14. while true, "zionist" is undoubtedly a code word in certain circles and contexts.

and it is not always difficult to determine when it is being used in such a way.

It is crazy to assume or to even think that the United States is beholden to protect Isreal at the exclusion of other vital relationships neccesary to our national interests.

It is also crazy to think that there is not a huge number of very powerful and wealthy jews in this country.

It is downright nutzo to assume that politicians listen and adhere to the goals of these wealthy and powerful individuals, most of whom support the nation of Israel with every conviction they have.

It is totally goofy to bring up that Israel has been found on NUMEROUS occasions to be spying on the US.

Finally, it is anti-semetic to bring up that the president of the united states might have to pander to some of the most powerfull people in the world in order to gain power and get elected.

Anti-semetic...

Oh...btw...Zionism is racism, period.

i think issur is either on vacation, given up on slog or dead. there have been some other choice bits he has not weighed in on which lead me to this conclusion.

zionist is a code word? i've never heard it used that way. it's either "i'm proud to call myself a zionist" or "pig dog oppressor zionist," etc. the meaning of the word remains the same in either instance, but the context determines the intent. is this like excluding catholics when you say "christian"? how is anyone to keep up with definition-clouding stupidity like this?

@7
While some uneducated people might believe that zionists and jews are the same thing, if you in any way study the issue they are not. There are many historical examples of zionists who are christians. And just because some people don't understand the distinction does not mean that it does not exist and that it isn't right to point out the incorrectness of these statements when people say so. When people are speaking from hate it is even more important to focus on incorrect facts that can be logically debated.

This item had me questioning the "intelligence" of the "Civillian Intellegence Network". So I ran their anagram "CIN" through Webster's online.

American Heritage Abbreviations Dictionary 3rd Edition - Cite This Source - Share This CIN

Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Reds
Circumcision Information Network

I wonder if the two groups end up taking a lot of each others questions.

re: zionist = jew. well, of course they are not synonymous. and maybe i misunderstood what was meant by "code word".

but in some circles, a perfectly normal word takes on a definite negative connotation. this is true for "jew", "woman", "black", "lawyer", "entrepreneur", and many other words.

normally, you can determine the meaning by the total context. not just the words used, but how they are said, why, and by whom.

and sometimes, the whom is all you need to know. if two anti-semites are in a discussion, "jew" and "zionist" pretty much mean the same thing. it is a way to identify a person whom you dislike and reduce the validity of their arguments (maybe even existence) without examination, among other things.

which is also why calling obama a muslim is similar. nothing wrong with being a muslim, except what that means to certain circles.
