I would love to see this happen. John Edwards really isn't presidential material but he would be an amazing Attorney General.

If Edwards had more delegates the VP slot would've made sense.

Wonder what Clinton's offer to Edwards will be?
Edwards' antipoverty mission makes him suitable for Health and Human Services. Or, Katrina/Rita rebuilding czar.

What happens if the Rezko/Obama situation gets out of hand,obama20web.article

I must say that considering that the source of this is Right-Wing douchebag Novak, I would take it with a grain of salt. I can't imagine that the Clinton's haven't jumped on some sort of deal like this already. That said, Edwards would make a great Attorney General.

That will be neutralized by the Rezko/Clinton/Clinton situation

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | January 25, 2008 1:15 PM

Why Attorney General? Why not VP or Secretary of Labor or Commerce?

Posted by bma | January 25, 2008 1:28 PM

Dan, you might want to edit your post since it uses pronouns and never actually says "John Edwards."

I admit, it made me click the link. But probably not the clarity you'd like to have on your slog.

Damn, I am such a wishy washy flip flopper the last couple of weeks! Okay, I hope this is real (but given it came from Navak.... well you know). If it is legit then it does show Obama is going to fight to the end. And that will be important in November when the Republicans try to flip the elections. AND no matter what. OBAMA MUST NOT CONCEDE THE NIGHT OF THE ELECTION!! NO NO NO!! That was Kerry's mistake given what happened in Ohio.

That being said, I think that they would want to wait to have Edwards make his announcement until closer to Super Tuesday, so that the Clintons can't make a play to pick up Edwards supporters or counteract that momentum.

@5 my point both scum

"The Illinois senator isn't accused of any wrongdoing."

Everything you need to know.

Sen Edwards will make a great Justice head, in the Obama/Dodd administration, just as Sen Clinton will make a great US Supreme Court Justice.

Kudos all around!

15 days till go time!

who needs any "proof" that Obama would fight to the end? Of course he would.
He's a great leader, and that's what they do. It's also what politicians do.
It's also what people who get into a big fight do. So don't worry this is from Novak, Obama is going to fight like hell to the end.

As for why not VP, because Edwards does not have enough delegates to put Obama over the top by making a deal, Obama doesn't need to offer him VP. Obama can get all his delegates for a cheaper price, by offering him a mere cabinet post. Leaving the door open for Obama to trade VP for other, greater benefits from someone else.

Richardson (foreign policy experience + ties to Latinos + W states), Wesley Clark (military and foreign policy experience) or Colin Powell (wow!! That would be different and transcendent, doubling down like Clinton + Gore, and would reinforce the new nonracial and new bipartisan politics, eh?)

or Webb from Virginia (foreign policy experience, ex Republican, economic populist, Southerner, etc.).

Meanwhile, nice to know that both Clinton and Obama have pulled their most agressive radio ads in SC.

I can support that idea. And I'm still with who was it -- Jonathan, Jon, Dominic? -- that Hillary will be a GREAT Senate Majority Leader.

Posted by Judith | January 25, 2008 2:18 PM

Yeah, Rezko'll kill Obama's chances exactly the way Whitewater killed Hillary Clinton's political career.

This is too good to be true.

Your faith in Sullivan is misplaced. My fave was on the night of the NH primary when he posted a screed from Mark Steyn (!) on how Obama was still going to win NH...

@15 - yeah, it's not like there are photos of Sen Clinton and Bill Clinton with Rezko ... oh, wait, there are.

Posted by Will in Seattle | January 25, 2008 5:36 PM

Edwards doesn't have enough delegates to make any deals yet. I don't think either Clinton or Obama want a head to head match up at this point.
This is it for Edwards he will ride it to the convention.

Riiiiiight. Having your picture taken with the President is the same thing as giving him thousands of dollars for his campaign, generating many thousands more in fundraisers, and topping it off with a $500,000 personal real estate present.

Now who's apologizing for the morally ambiguous actions of their candidate?
