Working Today?

Doctor? Nurse? Bus driver? Quik-E-Mart clerk? Web site administrator? Sex worker? Covering a research lab? Tending animals? Hearing confessions?

I’m working today, at least part of the day. Let’s commiserate.

Aww, thanks Jonathan... I work at a hotel as a concierge. Nothing but a handful of employees bitching to one another about how much it sucks to work today. The upside is making double time and a half $$$. We have something like 19 people checking out, and 20 checking in... when normally we have 60 checking out and that or more checking in.

I'm a loner out here in Seattle, a social butterfly, yet it doesn't help when everyone else is with their families, and mine is 4000 miles away. That and the boyfriend lives in Canada, so he's doing his thing up there.

Is there ANYTHING going on tonight that anyone knows of? Shit, we should make a mock Stranger Suggests for today.... handing out cans of PBR on a corner to the homeless, etc. lol. Thoughts? What is everyone else doing?

Yes, it's true. I'm working on this day...or at least I should be (I'm actually spending too much time at the computer). But there is nothing going on around me because most folks are spending time with family. *smile* Hey, at least I have SLOG to keep me company.

I'm working. Fortunately, I can mostly work at home, after I go into the office to get some files I can't get remotely. I have a deadline on something I'm editing Thursday morning, and the person who did the writing is the worst writer ever in the history of the world. I figure I have about 5 or 6 hours ahead of me today.

I'm a pet sitter so I'm working on and off today. I will have a big enough break to spend the day with friends. But then it's back to work before the night is done.

I liked working on Christmas. Last time I did I worked at a record store. Time and a half, no customers, just us employees spending the day talking about nonsense. It was pretty great. I'm Jewish and my family all lives in Denver, so I don't really have much to do here today.

Working at a call center, monitoring elevator phones. If you get stuck in an elevator today, you might talk to some of my people.

Here till 9 at night.

I workt at an Art Museum. Why the hell is a museum open on Christmas Day? We just so happen to be on the Las Vegas Strip. We're flooded with tourists. We're getting through it by eating sugar until our teeth fall out.

I'm pretty sure Havana is open for your drinking needs tonight.

I'm probably going to work now, but only because everyone else is asleep, and because "working from home" means always working.

I work at the customer service center for a psychic phone line. We never close, so I'm on until midnight helping the stupid and crazy all over the country talk to psychics.

I'm a houseman at the Inn at Harbor Steps (not a bellman, dick.) and today wasn't too bad. I'm one of those baby eating jews so it wasnt a big deal not being with my family. I expected more tips though, ill admit. But hardly anyone was around and those that were seemed cranky. Nothing like family to piss people off.

Well, down here in Santa Barbara we all hung out and barbecued while the ash from the recent months of fires blew over the mountains from the rest of California.

So count your blessings.

But the surf is sweet ... as are the Mojitos.
