“On the first day of Christmas the liberals gave to me…”

posted by on December 13 at 17:52 PM

Conservatives: They can’t govern, they can’t sing. Click on this, if you dare:

Good God. My ears, my eyes. I may never recover. At first I thought it was the Westboro Baptist Church choir. But those delusional haters can at least sing. These delusional douchebags can’t even keep the tempo—never mind the melody—of a well-known Christmas carol.

And an end to secret ballots? Huh? What? Would someone put these assboogers out of our misery? And how can this crass and political appropriation not be seen as an attack on Christianity and Christmas? Blarph.

Yeah, TOTALLY couldn't watch that whole thing.

Thanks for sharing.

Man, that reminds me: I need to send a check to Al Franken.

Posted by Dan Savage | December 13, 2007 6:11 PM

well reality has never been a strong point for conservatives

Posted by Jiberish | December 13, 2007 6:17 PM

Um, I think it's a joke. :-)

Posted by Jason | December 13, 2007 6:19 PM

Jesus Christ. This liberal will give them a Christmas present they'll NEVER forget. Fuckers.

And since we're on the topic of the 12 Days of Christmas (a tune I usually detest) I was listening recently to a recording of Joan Sutherland's version. Stunning. It was a revelation to me that the song doesn't have to suck.

Posted by Michigan Matt | December 13, 2007 6:32 PM

@5 - There is no context in which that song doesn't suck. I think you're just trying to lure someone into listening to it again. Shame on you.

Posted by SeanD | December 13, 2007 6:36 PM

I don't think so, Jason. Irony, like reality, has a well-known liberal bias.

Posted by Dan Savage | December 13, 2007 6:36 PM

@6--No, no. I'm serious. It was a delightful rendition on some record that my dad let me borrow--some Goodyear Tire (or something) promotional record of Christmas music (I know, I know.) I was floored.

Posted by Michigan Matt | December 13, 2007 6:38 PM

um, didn't bushie give us all these things already?

Posted by j | December 13, 2007 6:43 PM

wow. i read the comments first, and yet i was STILL amazed at how bad it was.

Posted by ozchick | December 13, 2007 8:55 PM

Uh, Dan, they're referring to the Democrats' failed attempt to pass a bill changing to a card check system for workplace union approval, which would've replaced secret ballot voting.

Posted by Ed the Head | December 13, 2007 9:05 PM

Joan Sutherland is God. She could sing the phone book and make it sound good.

Posted by Fnarf | December 13, 2007 9:38 PM

@1 my sentiments exactly

Posted by vooodooo84 | December 13, 2007 9:58 PM

@11: Assboogers (pl. noun): Those annoying lumps of shit that just hang on despite every attempt to remove them and make you feel gross just thinking about their existence. Synonyms: Klingons, dingleberries. Sounds like a rather appropriate description.

Posted by RainMan | December 13, 2007 10:58 PM

It's official Republican propaganda, so hidden behind the video is probably some open or closet liberal doing all the editing. It still amazes me that this stuff works on anyone. It's like a Stephen King short story where only Republicans can see truth or logic in Republican propaganda or Fox news. It almost feels like Dark City.

and the girl in the front, in the pink, she gave me the clap.

Posted by superyeadon | December 14, 2007 12:33 AM

$4.00 a gallon for gas? WTF??!! That was George Bush who gave us that. Remember what gas was when Clinton was President?

Posted by Just Me | December 14, 2007 4:55 AM

None of them are good, but they have the worst singers, the ones that aren't even on beat, singing the earliest verses that get repeated over and over. Are they TRYING to look incompetant?

Posted by Beguine | December 14, 2007 8:00 AM

I couldn't get past the 6th day and I like to think I have a pretty high tolerence. Seriously, that was shit!! Oh yeah, and I agree with #18... I distinctly remember gas hovering around $1/gallon in '98 when clinton was in office.

Posted by crystina | December 14, 2007 8:01 AM

I highly recommend watching it again and never taking your eyes off the "two liberal Udalls" girl in the front row, left. Watch as she is continually reminded to smile by someone off-camera. She instantly and terrifyingly smiles for a half-second and then goes back to looking just plain terrified. Hilarious.

Other than that, I heartily second Dan's BLARPH.

God, that "six troop funding cuts" chick BLOWS! Someone burn her paycheck!

Posted by sorry roger | December 14, 2007 8:51 AM

@ 21...against my better judgement, I took your advice (watched it AGAIN...painful) and laughed my ass off. While the others are attempting to sing about these terrible things the liberals have done, she flashes a big cheezy grin.
I think the blonde behind her is pinching her ass, they are secretly lovers and are planning on taking "Hillary's Woodstook Museum" back for a threesome.

Posted by Joy | December 14, 2007 9:54 AM

Why do I feel the need to torture myself. Dan warns me and I go ahead and listen to it anyways. I must need help.

Posted by Brad | December 14, 2007 10:27 AM

WTF is a liberal Udall?

Posted by Mike in MO | December 14, 2007 11:10 AM

I ... what was ... I have no idea how to respond to that video.

Posted by Jo | December 14, 2007 11:35 AM

I wound up watching it THREE times! :-(
I listened to it once, then called my mom in to watch. When it was over, my mom called my dad in so HE could watch. Our dog followed my dad in, and she just sat in the middle of the floor with this miserable look on her face like "WTF is going on?!"

Posted by Anna | December 14, 2007 1:50 PM

Bush is going to step in and fire the Writers Guild and replace them with this pack of talent.

Posted by GSD | December 15, 2007 3:05 PM

This looks like it was produced by Al Qaeda's media wing.

I'm as conservative as they get and even I got annoyed with this! The last video I turned off this fast was 2 girls and 1 cup!

I have come to the conclusion that these people (Bush supporters, arch conservatives and rightwing Christians) live in parallel universe. There is a serious contender for their candidacy that thinks the world was created a few thousand years ago. Earth to Repukes! HELLO!~HELLO!

Posted by kary | December 15, 2007 4:15 PM

I think they sing GRATE!

Posted by NRA FOUREVER | December 15, 2007 6:17 PM

White people are silly.

also known as "fartle-berries"

When they predict "just wait to see what Democrats do to your paycheck next year" it sounds like they are predicting a Democrat win big-time. We should be so lucky!! Vote Dem! Vote to IMPEACH!

So you don't have to watch it yourself:

12 Senators failing
11% approval
10 paychecks burning
90,000 freezing
No more secret ballots
700 billion in new spending
Six troop funding cuts
Hillary's Woodstock Museum
Four Bucks a gallon
Al Franken ranting
Two liberal Udells
A tax hike for every family

pathetic republican hypocrites doing what they must do to get some attention. yawn.

Why not look into the cult associations of two of your presidential candidates? I am Not sure which cult is worse - Mormons or Baptists.

America is so done with you folks. buhbye

Posted by Brian Bottorff | December 16, 2007 10:30 AM

If you don't like 4 dollar a gallon gas lose the SUV. How is wasting gas a conservative value? Remember converve is part of the word conservative.

Posted by leslie | December 16, 2007 11:17 AM

My ears! Can it get any clearer that republicans are soooo out of tune with America?

Posted by Rob | December 16, 2007 6:01 PM

Um, didn't we see the biggest rise in the price of gas under the current GOP presidency??? As I recall, I was paying just over a dollar a gallon when Bush took office. The price had held steady under Clinton.

And, it's amazing how they hate Hillary, putting her in the most prominent spot.

Posted by CTmoderate | December 17, 2007 4:50 AM

No more secret ballots probably pertains to the recent proposed changes in the voting for/against unions & the removal of it being a secret ballot initiative. Look into the Employee Free Choice Act or "card check" recognition. Idiots.

Posted by Cam Winston | December 17, 2007 6:07 AM

Gas prices have gone up during the Republicans. Pathetic.
