Newspaper Layout of the Year

posted by on December 26 at 9:59 AM

From the December 13 issue of The Lewiston Tribune.

First note the large photo and caption under the headline “Sign of the Times.”

Then note the story—about the convenience-store wallet thief caught on security camera—directly below it.

I could not love this more.

Thank you, MetaFilter (where interested parties can find some fascinating additional info in the comments.)

The realization of what I was looking at took a moment. My next moment was spent emailing this to about 30 people. Thanks!

For people who pride themselves on how many stories they break before the local dailies and TV stations, you sure post some pretty outdated stuff. As you note, the page is dated Dec. 13, and this was on the local news around then.

That's some good noticing, TomCat.

However, I didn't see the story till Christmas Eve, and posted it this morning, for other people who also may have missed it. (Like 1, 2, and countless others.)

The LMT Tribune is a liberal paper in a wasteland of Ford F250s, Wal-Mart lovin', gun totin', gay-hatin', good ol' fashioned rednecks.

Cherish it.

9: read the stories connected with the two center photos, then look closely at the photos.

OK, David. As long as you're not defensive about it...
