From the Spokesman Review

Spokane County prosecutors charged a 26-year-old waiter and part-time porn model with extortion Wednesday in connection with a sexual encounter in October that ended the career of a Washington State representative.

Cody Michael Castagna, of Medical Lake, faces four felony charges after he received money from then-Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center. According to police records, Curtis dressed in women’s lingerie and met Castagna Oct. 26 at an adult book store on East Sprague during a taxpayer-sponsored trip to Spokane. He resigned Oct. 31, due to fallout from the scandal….

Castagna’s attorney, David Partovi, said he now will start the process of researching all of Curtis’ past votes, acquaintances and other encounters. Curtis was “a state employee. It’s the state versus this kid,” Partovi said. “Are we going to drag Curtis through the mud for a year? I’m going to make this one hurt.”

Uh… that sounds like a threat, doesn’t it? I mean, another one?

Sounds like attempted extortion, to me. ;)

You are right.

I love this attorney. Threatening a witness is a felony...

Curtis might be a hypocrite re his voting record, but he stood up to extortionist Castanga and company and sacrificed his job and his reputation in the process.

What is this, eighteen strikes and you're out?

(A) Curtis is a dipshit hypocrite. He gives politicians a bad name.

(B) Castagna is a slimeball. A real piece of work. He gives hookers and/or gays a bad name.

(C) Partovi (Castagna's lawyer) sounds every bit as sleazy as his client. They deserve each other. He gives lawyers a bad name.

I fervently hope never to have dealings with any of them. Ugh!

The Spokane County Prosecutor isn't gonna give a Great Leap Forward whether the shyster attorney wants to drag a former part-time Clark county official's name through the muck or not.

Ultimately, anything he finds is gonna be inadmissible at trial and irrelevant to whether or not his client engaged in an act (or four) of extortion.

If it wasn't already apparent that the guy's a bottom-feeder: the guy's a bottom feeder.

Indicted extortionist or not, I'd still do him.

We need to start a Cody legal defense fund. The better-funded his defense, the more they'll be dragging Republican hypocrisy through the mud. Make it hurt!

When does he get indicted for the upside down visor?
